How much does your house cost to heat?

£40 a month gas 2 bed flat on prepayment meter and £40 electric a month alsp prepayment x

Electric and Gas are about £90 a month in winter, 50/50 split. We have a cold house, end of terrace and an uninsulated porch but we keep doors shut, use thermal curtains and wear plenty of layers so doing well! OH, and we inherited the previous tenants pre pay meters so if we switched could get it cheaper!

I love my gas prepayment meter! It makes me so much more conscientious about what I'm spending.

I second this. Although it is slightly more expensive it brings me a lot of peace of mind to know I'm not gonna get an £800 bill in january like we did in 2010 :haha:

Ouch!

That's why I'm in no real hurry. The place we lived in before was a flat and all electric (storage heaters) but never really had it on as we benefitted from out neighbours heating. Top floor and a few feet of insulation kept us very Toastie. I already have enough in Jan to pay for with Car Insurance and car Tax so its good to know that we're not getting a bill and can monitor and cut down wasting money.

mines is 54 a month for both :) 2 bed large new build with great insulation and central heating

We live in a village with no gas so we have oil heating, and oil is so expensive at the moment! I dread to think what we spend on oil a year, probably around £4k so what's that a month, around £330! Ouch!

In the winter, about $50 a month. That includes hot water though.

100 gas a month! 5 bed massive hose though, although we tend to shut off the rooms we don't use much.

£40 a month on gas and electric, for a 2 bed house x

After reading this NI is such a rip off. I went looking at the prices of Gas and electric in England and they are lower. Its so unfair, they did the same on broadband here for so long to. I put £20 in my meter on mon and ran out today.

I dont know just for heating but our gas and electric costs £160 a month thats heat, light tumble dryer and cooking in a 3 bed semi.

£118 a month for just gas. That's heating and water. Our house is ridiculously uneconomical :(

Too much so we hardly use it. We live in a huge 10 bedroomed house and then the barn conversion that my sister and family live in also run off our oil tank. It was about £1000 to fill up the tank in April/May and we are literally running on the dregs now so we are going to have to fill up before Christmas. This does the hot water as well too I should point out!

If the children are cold I make them put jumpers and warm socks on, then the duvets come down and if they still moan only then does the heating go on! My parents are the same as me- they will wrap up warm and only then will the heating go on. We are thinking about getting wood burning stoves fitted as we can get free wood but it is just getting the money and time to do it! Plus my sister takes the piss with the heating..she had it on at 8am the other morning and when I went back in at 9.30pm she still had it on- including rooms she isn't even using (two spare bedrooms and a spare bathroom). Needless to say it irked me a little as she still owes me the £300 contribution towards the last fill.

Wow - a lot of you pay an awful lot for your heating. We live in a large 3 bed, 2 reception room house that has dodgy double glazing and the heat just seems to pour out of the house and yet we only pay around £60/70 per month for gas and electric combined. We pay the same amount summer and winter so what we save in the summer we spend in the winter. I also have the heating on pretty much all day every day from Oct to Apr. We are getting a wood burner put in soon in order to reduce our costs down a bit.

Was with Npower and they shoved our bill to £126 a month from £66, not having that, so switched to EON and pay £90 a month. I know they are putting prices up but ffs going from £66 to £126 is ridiculous!

Sorry should of said thats gas and electric, our heating is run by gas so our gas bill is around £75 a month at the moment.

We pay £130 a month for gas and elec thats cos we're in debit and "owe them" we got a 3 bed masionette which is pretty warm at times

ATM we pay £90 a month for gas and electric. They review it every so often and it can either go up or down. It's a 3 bed semi

We have solar panels too

We had a prepayment meter for lecky and one for gas but we have just had the lecky taken out as it was using about 25 per week (3 bed house 4 people in it).

On gas we are keeping the prepayment meter and use about 20.00 per week in winter and nothing in summer. Thats how we save if we switch the gas to a credit meter we would end up paying all summer too !

My combined gas and elec is £67 a month for a generous sized 3 bed mid terrace. It's went down recently as I'm bk at work but was 82 when I was on maternity leave.

I pay £122 a month for gas and electric together.

Its a 3 bed semi

I pay £50 gas and £30 elec each month. I could pay less but I like to be in credit x
