How much EBM for 7 month old?

Hi ladies,

I have a wedding to go to on Saturday and will be gone for 10-12 hours. LO has only just started accepting bottles 10 days ago (I've been trying since she was 6 weeks old!). She is happy enough having a bottle but she's always been a distracted breastfeeder- on/off, on/off, all the time and it's the same with bottles- it takes 20 mins to get 4oz in to her.

I think she'll need 3 feeds while I'm gone so have 3 5oz pouches ready in the freezer. I also intend to express another two feeds but smaller ones (3-4oz) in case she needs topping up or something goes wrong with one of the 5oz. OH once dropped one all over the floor- a waste of a 15 minute pumping session!!

The thing is I obviously don't know how much she takes on a normal feed, she feeds every 3-3.5 hours typically, so don't know if 5oz is enough or whether she'll have 5 oz but will be ready for another sooner iykwim?!

I guess I'm asking how much EBM your 6-7 month old would have and whether you think I'll have enough?

I should just add we started BLW 5 weeks ago and she's doing really well, she's also really likes drinking water- prob 1-2 oz between feeds in this heat.

my 7 month old usually takes about 3, 5 ounce bottles of breastmilk while I'm at work. I work 12 to 13 hour shifts. he usually does have oatmeal once and baby food once during that time too. hope that helps answer your question

Sounds like I'm on the right track then. She will also have lunch and tea while I am away but is BLW so not much gets actually eaten

My LO has 3/4oz every 4hours or so, with meals in between, but he's not a big eater

What you are planning sounds perfect. Mine had 4oz every hour and a half at that age, but he's a big boy, and that's how often he nurses when he's with me. I would feed her as often as she tends to BF and 5 oz sounds about right for that frequency.

My nearly 7 month old takes 4-5oz every 4-5 hours when I'm at work, so it sounds like you're on the right track. Good thinking to have some extra just in case.

So, LO had the 3 5oz bottles as I expected but also had an extra 3ounces half an hour after bedtime as she wouldn't settle! Glad I had left extra!!
