How much is SMP after tax?

As per the message title, how much is SMP after tax? I'm trying to work out my pay and I need to account for every penny!

I get paid my smp monthly the same as if i was still working and ive noticed ive got 499 if its a 4 week month and 584 if its a 5 week month.

I get a different amount. After tax and NI has been deducted I only get 98 a week. Wonder why we are getting different amounts?

maybe its different depending on your tax code, so if you have earnt more in the year before you started getting smp you will pay more tax but if you weren't upto the limit maybe you pay lesss, my deductions last month were only about £3 for tax and NI.

might have to look in to that then, some how. only been working part time since Oct 08, then 1 month full time before LO arrived. Think I was on an emergency tax code for that month so maybe that has something to do with it.

turns out I have been on the wrong tax code for smp. so for the last 26wks i have been paying 25.00 tax per week instead of a couple of pounds. nice big rebate on the way but means there have been times where money was ight and didn't need to have been.
