How much maternity pay & maternity leave are you getting and how long have you been with your company? I am trying to work out if Im getting a poor deal or if my offering is fairly standard. I'd be very interested to hear from you. Thanks in advance

hi,
i've been with my employer for 5yrs and they only given the minimum they have to,6 weeks 90% pay, then smp after that ,i can take up to a year off but the last 3 months would be unpaid. hope this helps.x.

Thanks hellypops. I've been offered the minimum too. I've been with my company for 6 years and in a senior position for 2 of those. I've achieved a lot for the company and was hoping for a little more than statutory. Or am I just being spoilt/greedy? Humph, I don't know :sad1:

At my job we get 6 weeks 90% pay and on top of that, 18 weeks company maternity pay.

My colleague told me that she got fully pay for 4.5 and had her holidays for 1.5 months, so 6 months at full pay basically!

My work don't tell you what the 18 weeks pay is though, they just say it's based on your average weekly wage before Mat Leave

I get 6 weeks at 90%, then a further 12 weeks at 1/2 pay + SMP, then just SMP to 39 weeks.

I got:

8 weeks full pay
then 18 weeks half pay + SMP
then 13 weeks SMP only (takes you up to 39 weeks) (but I returned to work before got to the end of this)

then I took 8 weeks annual leave (spread across two financial years) at the end of my mat leave so was back on full pay for the last two months.

I get the 6 weeks at 90% ( which actually meant i got more than a months wage that pay as it included all the bank hol payments and travel expenses i got for the qualifyingtime)

Then i get the standard 33 weeks SMP as well as 33 weeks company maternity pay (About £40 a week). Plus if i go back to work at 38 weeks or earlier AND stay back at work for six months (full or part time) I get a 'topup' payment which is based on percentages of amounts earned at various times before and after i came off which works out at about £1500. Nice little bonus which should pay out just before LO's birthday.

And honestly we struggle financially because my salary is our biggest income and we have still lost about £900 a month even with the extra MP and WTC, CTC and CB. You dont realise how much you are committed to financially till you get in a situation like this

I get 18 weeks full pay, 21 weeks SMP and 13 weeks unpaid

I will probably go back before the unpaid leave kicks in but hope to do some KIT days to get me back into work

I only got MA when my LO so am looking forward to having a wee bit more money when the time comes; fingers crossed
x

I got 6 months full pay and took my years holiday allowance beforehand so had just over 7.5 months at full pay. I went back after this, but I would have been entitled to another 13 weeks at SMP then another 13 weeks unpaid.

I went back to work after the 7 months 3 months pregnant, and will be taking another 7.5 months off at full pay then returning to work full time again.

Thank ladies, I appreciate the feedback. Got to find a way to pay the bills. It's going to be tough  Oh well.
