How much should a 6week old be eating?

My son is 6 weeks old and hes been taking 4-5 oz at a time. I'm just not sure if thats too much. Some people tell me that it can be too much and to not over feed him but others tell me that if hes hungry then to feed him. Help please?!

Hi hun, ive only been bottle feeding for about 3-4 weeks now but i always follow the guidelines whats on the formula tins, if you find your LO isnt drinking all the bottle maybe drop down an ounce at each feed, i always stick to how many feeds they say they should be having a day though.. As long as your not giving lots of extra feeds & over doing it on the ounces per bottle they'll be fine

Also, LO wont drink anything they dont want, once theyve had enough they'll just stop x

my baby has always had what she wants which is always more than the guidelines...shes 8 weeks and right where she needs to be weight wise so i wouldnt worry about it x

My 3 week old takes 4-5oz each feed, I was told to ignore what it says on the tin and give him as much as he wants.

My son is 6 weeks and he sometimes drinks 4 sometimes 5 ounces and he's great! Healthy and happy. Go by YOU and what baby wants.

Amelia takes 90-100ml (just over 3oz) every 4 hours.

We switched to formula/EBM around 6 weeks. My LO would only take 2-3 oz at a time but she ate every 2 hours or less! i still feed on demand. If she is done she closes her mouth and pushes away. My pediatrician said at this age they cannot be overweight.

My pediatrician told me that babies around 4-6 weeks should be drinking from 4-5oz every few hours. =)

My little girl is nearly 6 weeks and has around 4oz every three-four hours. However for past couple of days shes been taking 4oz every 2.5-3 hours so I'm thinking growth spurt.
She also has silent reflux so is on gaviscon infant.

I am just going with what she wants, I do try and make her wait the 3 hours but if shes hungry then I feed her xxx

my LO is 6weeks today and is taking 5-7oz, usually 6-7 with 1 smaller feed a day and feeds every 2-3 hours! i know this is too much and people are advising me against the hungry baby milk so i really dont know what to do. what your little is taking I would have thought sounds normal

My LO is 5 weeks old and drinks 4-5oz every 3-6 hours since she was about 3 weeks. Though if she wants she'll sometimes drink 6.5oz And there has been times she had 8! Though when she drinks A LOT she'll go quite a while.

I feed on demand, so if she's hungry, she's going to be fed. A baby cannot overeat, so it seems logical to just feed what they want.
