Honestly? We have two schnauzers who are very good and can survive on two 20 min walks a day. If I get a chance or its nice weather I pass up mums and tots etc to take them for a good long run. If I have plans hubby will take them out first thing for half n hour before work. We have a huge garden and they chase each other about too. I just feel so guilty, no abuse please,I know it's my responsibility to them and I know they get walked daily but sometimes I feel it's not enough. What are your dogs and how often are they out?

Oh and I have to drive to walk anywhere if that makes sense, our lane leads to a busy road.

When were both at work he gets two walks a day. a quick 10min in morning and a longer 30min in evening. but whilst i been at home he just gets one in the evening as he spends the whole day in garden.
But were fortunante to have a reasonable size garden and we haing massive playing fields at the end of our road.

we had a collie X dalmatian. he sadly passed from cancer :(

but we used to walk him for at least 2x30 mins a day & he had pretty much free run of our 280ft garden, unless we were out.

as you said if it was a nice day he would get a mega good run about over the common.. i hated trying to bath him when the weather was like this :(

xx

My collie x gsd gets let out for a wee when we wake up then an hour later he gets a 20 minute walk round the park across the road, let out for a wee again around 2pm then he gets a half hour walk between 9 and 10 pm down the beach every night (unless theres a storm then we just walk by the beach instead). Also if im going out anywhere with friends or to my main mummy friends house he comes with us. He is a bot of a weird dog though he loves bad weather even thunderstorms and will happily go out in them when most of my friends have to drag there dogs out the door just cause its raining. I cant wait to see what he makes of snow x

Oh also i dont have a garden and the beach is a 30 second walk away. x

I don't have dogs now but growing up I always took the dogs out for a good hour after school, my stepdad did morning walks as he was up early for work, and they would get out for a half hour run ver lunch time.

When I had my lab x I used to give her 2 hours every night because she only got out in the garden morning and lunchtime

Our dog Maddi (English bulldog) gets a brisk 30min walk every evening and access to the garden to sunbathe whenever she wants all day:thumbup:

Our dogs get a 45 minute walk morning and night whatever the weather. If its dry in the day they get free run of the garden, if its raining they just go out for a wee when needed

Mine gets a 30 minute walk walk each day and can go into the garden when he wants although if it's raining he refuses to go out!

my labradoodle gets an hour a day wind, rain, sleet or snow. in the summer/weekends gets many hours more when we take him to woods, horsetrails, canals etc

Im bad, our dogs hardly ever get walked :nope:
Our Great Pyrenees/ Irish wolfhound, Callie, is a rescue and when we first got her she would not go out for walks, heck we had a hard time getting her outside to go pee! We did finally get her to walk but it is very stressful for her and does more harm than good, despite being on a daily does of an antidepressant!

Our shepherd collie, Willo, on the other hand would love to go for walks but unfortunately I cannot leave Callie home alone due to extreme separation anxiety.
But when my husband is home I can slip out with Willo for a walk!
I do go with them in the yard everyday for a good play and do lots of tricks and training with Willo!

We have a springer spanial. She will generally go with my when I walk DS to school which is about a 40min round trip. Then depending on where I am she will sometimes do the school run in the afternoon too. I was told she would need 3 x 45min minimum a day but she's actually really healthy and lean on the walks that she does have. She will also go out in our garden a few times a day and runs round like a lunatic lol. Oh and she tends not to go out as much when it's raining-if I open the kitchen door and it's raining she wont move unless she needs to go for a wee lol.

During the working week, whatever the weather, our Shih Tzu gets a 20 min walk at 7am, a 20 min walk at 5pm and a 45 min walk at 10pm. He knows when hes due his walks aswel theyre that much of a routine! On a weekend its the same walks but sometimes he'l get extra if we go to the beach etc. He loves it and loves socialising with all the other dogs he meets along the way! x

We have a boxador and he is walked almost everyday - twice a week i take him out for a 1 hour walk - he usually gets a good long 1 hour walk/run about off lead 3 times a week and at least a minimum of a 20 min walk a day - he also has free run in the garden whatever the weather when someone is at home. x

You guys are very good. Our poor dogs are suffering a bit at the moment, they are probably getting walked three of four times a week on average. They do get good hard exercise when they do, we usually run them with a tennis ball launcher for half an hour or take them up to the forest but weather and two young children means they're not getting as much as they should be.

Well mines only a baby (12 weeks old), but weve started to walk her once a day for now. She will go for more when she's a bit bigger xx

She's a boxer btw xx

45-60 minutes a day depending on what the weather is like and how tired the dog is- he is getting on a bit now! He has access to the garden at all times when we i'm home and loves playing chase in the garden with the cats :D

We never walk our dogs. They do have a nice big backyard that they run around in though.

My dog is not happy unless the walk is 3-5 miles long, an hour or more. She shoots herself in the foot that way, coz I just don't have an hour plus every day to wander aimlessly around town!! Might be my fault though, for the first two years of her life I walked her religiously for an hour every evening before I went to my night shift job. Now, I'm at work during that time frame and find it difficult to walk during other times of the day (too much traffic in the day before work, or ridiculously late after 1am)

My other dog is a fetcher, not so much into long walks. I try to fetch him about 30min a day and get mrs-walks-alot to at least run around the yard during that time.
They get to go out to potty pretty much whenever, but long walks for exercise are more of a special treat on my days off.

Every day for 20 mins at least although its often a lot longer and wr normally take the ball in the local field
