How soon can I start to TTC again?

Hi ladies!

How soon is too soon to start to TTC again?

I had abdominal myomectomy on March 12 to remove fibroids and for ovarian drilling. It was then that the doc found I had endometriosis as well, thus he removed it as well. Lucky for me, my tubes are not blocked.

We were told to wait for 6 months before trying again but there is this nagging feeling inside me saying that it's too long to wait!

Urgh. So back to the question, how soon is too soon or should I really wait for 6 months?

If the doc said 6 months, I'd follow his advice. If you're really not sure, I'd suggest you contact them to ask.

I don't think we currently have any doctors/medical professionals on LTTTC so there's probably nothing official anyone here can advise.

Do you know what kind of fibroids you had removed? (i.e. submucosal)....the closer they are to the lining the longer they want you to wait. I had 3 submucosals removed in July 2010 and they had me wait 4 months. I agree that 6 months is a long time but remember the doc was in there and knows how much repairing of the uterus he had to do. You wouldnt want to get pg and only complication after complication because you were not healed up properly. Sorry, I understand trust me. I have been down this road and just finished another myomectomy but this time with a hysterscope so I dont have to wait. I will be ttc again after my next period....now i just need to ovulate so I can start this tww and get my af.......hahaha...can you see my impatience

Hehe, that was my frustration talking! Felt like such a nut reading my post today.

My fibroids were submucosal.

So yeah, after much thinking, I think the doc obviously knows better as to why he told us to wait for at least 6 months before we can TTC again.

So, yeah, so September is my target!

Sounds like you had quite a lot of invasive work done which will need a long time to properly heal and get strong again.

Six months sounds like a long ime and at times you'll make yourself miserable with impatience but as it's not something you can do anything about I guess you could try to use these six months to do all the things which won't be possible, or easy, to do anymore once you do have a child. Free rein, really!
