Well, kind of stranger anxiety.
We've been through wonder week 10 - and made it out the other side. Ds was grumpy, anxious and very clingy. He wouldn't be left with anyone - even oh.
Part of the wonder week was him developing huge stranger anxiety. I read that this is part of getting better at facial recognition and realising that some people are completely unfamiliar. Fair enough.
He's now a lovely little toddler, with the occasional tantrum, but still lovely. He happily runs around when we're out and about and is fairly confident in new places.
However he hates, HATES people he doesn't know talking to him. He screams, cries and tries to bury his face in anything available. This happens in the supermarket and on the school run particularly. Not so much with other children, but with almost every grown up that tries. It's getting to the point where I dread the school run because I know some of the mum's will say hi to him and that will start WW3.
I've tried him in the buggy, him walking and me carrying him. No difference. I've tried distracting him with food which works well in the supermarket but not on the school run it doesn't help that I often have to wake him from his nap to do the school run in the afternoon meaning he's grumpy anyway.
Can anyone think if anything that might help???? Either him or me??? I hate him being so upset and I hate all the staring as he screams like I'm torturing him.... just became someone smiled & said hi.
