How true is this?

I've just read this online,

Most people think that you can't get pregnant while breastfeeding, that the process of lactating keeps a woman from ovulating. However, plenty of mothers of twins disagree with that idea. Some research has supported the theory that the chance of twins or multiples is increased if a woman conceives while breastfeeding. For example, Dr. Gary Steinman*claims that women who become pregnant while breastfeeding are nine times more likely to conceive twins than women who are not breastfeeding at the time of conception

Is this actually true, or is it just one of them daft statistics that gets plucked from thin air??

I've not heard that before... I know you can get prego while breast feeding (my friend did!)- but higher chance of twins??? Not sure if that's true?

I think there are studies to back up just about any theory, if you look hard enough... the curse of google... haha

Well I'm still breastfeeding, as why I've come across this on google, there's probably been one instance where some one has breasted and had twins, and it's been put down to breastfeeding

It depends on how much you are feeding, whilst you are soley(8-10 feeds a day) bf ov is inhibited but as soon as you start to wean/mix feed ov is likely to occur..will get the official stats from my bf books but i got preg whilst feeding

Perhaps you are more likely to release more than 1 egg due to hormone changes that can occur when breastfeeding, especially if you cut back all of a sudden.
