Was it with ultrasound guidance? without ultrasound? By the DR or the nurse?

1x by a doctor, 2x by the nurses. I think typically nurses do the IUIs in my practice, depending on availability.

No ultrasound guidance during the IUI (though we did monitoring up to the date they triggered or detected a surge). I don't believe they generally need ultrasound guidance as it just has to go in the uterus (compare to IVF/FET where they sometimes have a very specific idea of where they want to place the embryo). They used a speculum to see everything and then inserted a tube through the cervix. I had three total and had a small amount of pain and a drop or two of spotting with only one (incidentally the lucky one that worked!).

First they used the vaginal u/s to see which side I had follicles on. Then Dr did IUI without ultrasound guidance. My Dr was a specialist and oly does IUI and IVF treatments so I don't know if that helped. But she got it done on the first shot (and we bought a bundle of IUI, of course!)

I have ultrasounds 2-3 times before IUI to evaluate lining and follicle progress but no US for IUI itself. Nurse Practicioners do it at my clinic. Use a speculum and then the catheter into the cervix. I've had spotting 1 out of 4 IUIs.

Thank you ladies for sharing, congrats msripple & TTCfirst! MKayes, hoping this is your cycle! This is our second cycle. Our first cycle IUI was with Femara 2.5 and natural surge, two washes. This cycle we used 5mg Femara and triggered today, scheduled two washes for tomorrow and Friday. First two washes performed but nurse, no ultrasound guidance. OF course they have been monitoring about 3 times both times via u/s before procedure.
