Well as the title says really???
I am fed up with the "you'll just know" answer everyone I know says as a FTM
HOW WILL I KNOW???
I am asking as I have been having strange pains at the bottom of my bump since dinner. Its almost like a period pain but across the whole underneath of my bump and keeps coming n going. It doesnt seem to be really regular or anything but it is consistant????
Today I have had two RLT's the tiny tin of pinapple and with my dinner I mixed chilli sauce into my mayo. (Thinking eviction methods all take time n the RLT is meant to just improve labor)
I of course know that I'm not in established labor or I imagine I would be in lots n lots of pain but could it be possible I'm in early stages of labor???
(Being my first I am aware that the first stage could last days or even over a week)
Owwww pain back again...

Anyone have any ideas????
Oh my bump has also dropped in last few days n he is much more engaged, (cant feel his head no more)

if BH turn into actual contractions they will not only become more painful (not just like BAM pain in the movies but you will notice they will slowly become more and more painful) they will also become regular. So things to look for are increase in pain and regulation :)

But this is the thing, since I ate dinner over 3hours ago the pain has become worse :dohh: i was just in the kitchen n stopped in my tracks when one of these pains started n then was able to walk through it.
Baby has been active today but less so than normal and since these strange pains have started my belly is rock solid
The last pain I had ran through my bum into the underneath of my bump

I went to QA sunday and today because of the same thing. cramping that kept coming and going in that general area,
if you phone them up and tell them you have been having them on and off for a while, they might ask you to go in. they'll hook you up to the monitor to make sure baby is ok and it will also measure to see if you are contracting. they'll ask you a load of questions as well.
if you haven't had to go in before and they ask you to go in they ask you to go to B8 but go straight to B6/7 to sign in then make your way to B8.
contractions do feel a lot like period pains to start of with.

Thanks hun, forgot your also at QA right???
Problem is I dont know if it is worth me ringing n them asking me to go in if I'm only in early stages, especially as would mean waking hubby to take me who starts work at 5am :dohh:
I have been before when I lost my mucus plug at 30weeks. So know they send u well, everywhere :winkwink:
How bad do u think I should allow the cramping n pain to get before having to ring? Also if it didnt go by time I got up (which i dont sleep tilk bout 1am so not up till like 9ish) then hubby will be 2-3hours drive away n Id have to get my dad to drive me down (but he wouldnt stay with me so be alone)

Ahhhhh I just dont know what to do,Im not in tons of pain but it is pain. Just dont know how much pain is worth waking hubby n him then potentially lossing £200 (lose two days wages for one day off plus his months bonus)

As you are less than 37 weeks itmight be worth getting checked out.

Yea I am :)
I never understood why on the phone they tell you to go to B8 and then when you get there to go to B6/7.
seeing though you have been getting it a few hours now, I think it would be worth phoning them. they may tell you to take some painkillers and see how you go.
I waited until about an hour after taking some painkillers as they hadn't helped the pain.

I personally don't know if I have had BH or not.. I just went into get checked when I could time the contractions no one believed me because they didn't hurt for me hahah so no I don't believe that you will "just know" because I didn't.

Think I might just try the painkillers n try n get some sleep. See how I feel in the morning. If its still the same then I will just have to get my dad to drop me off n pick me up if everything is ok or ring hubby to come home if they want to keep me in. (Then hubby can grab hospital bags too)

Will update in the morning if I'm still having cramps or if it fizzles out n is just painful bh instead of normal bh

hope you do get some sleep.
hubby had to come home from work today to take me, luckily his work is very understanding.
hopefully it's nothing but painful BH

My real labor and my false labors felt *exactly* the same. Both false labors were dehydration-based, but the contractions FELT the same, so when real labor started, I just ignored it and tried sipping lots of water. Only significant difference was that I also got incredibly nauseous and couldn't handle any smells, and had had the runs the day before. So yeah, sometimes you don't just 'know'!

There are things you can try to see if they stop the contractions/pains though; water if you think you are dehydrated, warm bath can relax your muscles (I recommend this for false OR real labor, as it just feels nice!), walking around a bunch, stuff like that.

Good luck!! :)

Labour pains hurt and they get worse. BH stay the same. Someone said to me you will know when I asked the difference between them. And trust me I knew as the pain was different and hurt so much more! xx

Id just go and get checked since your less than 37weeks

im getting loads of cramping the last few days and and found hot baths really help x

My braxton hicks were totally irregular, when I noticed I'd had like 6 within an hour I figured I'd time them just for fun. They were 5-7 mins apart by the end of the next hour, and were increasingly more noticeable! That was the start of labour for me, no other signs! Good luck! x

Thanks everyone, I managed to sleep just fine and when I woke I thought the pains had fizzled out.

However they have been getting more n more again throughout the day :dohh: I think maybe its just bh getting more intense as Im getting closer  I had a very large n painful bm first thing n had tin of pinapple this morning.
I am also very very hormonoal today, just want to cry n EVERYTHING dh says to me makes me snap in anger or feel upset lol
Wish I just knew what was going on..... I feel so off today n fed up

if your still getting the pains phone them up, maybe more then BH, let them know you've been feeling off today as well. glad you got some sleep though

I was told to do the opposite of whatever your doing..if you're up then lay down, if you're laying down get up and walk...if they keep coming regularly its labor..if they fizzle out or get farther apart it's BH

Still getting the contrsctions but they are quiet random. Some are really close to eachother and others up to an hour apart so I'm not overly concerned I need to ring the hospital. Also baby has been moving just fine all day

I did get hubby to check my cervix (n he was very happy to do so as we havent dtd or I had anything since 12weeks) Well beforehand we looked up pictures aswell as what to feel for and he found it (so obviously low) he said it was very very soft not like anything he had felt before, n was almost like it was moving  but the best news was he said I'm about 1-1.5cm dilated which I feel is fantastic

I know it can be that way for weeks with your first but I'm going to continue with my eviction methods. It just shows I was right. I knew these pains had felt different to the normal bh and something was happening.

Also feelimg like I knew it was different just reminds me how in tune with my own body I am and makes me feel more confident in knowing when things are progressing :happydance:
Thank you all for your support xx

that's good your so in tune with your body, it will make it easier for you to explain whats happening when you do phone them.
