Quick Question:

I had mt HSG on Friday. Holy $h1t that hurt. I did the pre-procedure antibiotic and anti-inflammatory as directed. Had a mild reaction to the dye. Got dizzy, and nauseous. Once that passed I was itchy all over for about 30 minutes. I read this was because contrast dye can cause a flood of Histamine in people with other existing allergies not just iodine and shellfish. So my latex, penicillin and other random allergies made me a bit sensitive. That being said. Friday was not pleasant. I had a lot of cramping the rest of the day. Like really really bad period cramps.

Friday I was on the couch. But the rest of the weekend left no opportunity to take it easy. Life was way busy. So I just took my meds like a good little girl and hit the sack early. Once I lay down I noticed that the cramping was there even through the meds. Well I figured I would have taken in easy. Oh well life goes on.

Now it is Monday and I am still getting some cramping. If I am up and about or do lifting or cleaning or any other moderate activity. It takes about 45 minutes of sitting to calm the cramping down. I stopped taking the anti inflammatory meds because I didn't want to miss an important signal that my body is trying to tell me. These cramps are kinda like light period cramps. Enough that they are uncomfortable and you notice them. but you are not ready to reach for the bottle of Motrin/Mydol/Tylenol (name your choice).

I am thinking by now I should be 100%. It has been 3 days. Is this residual pain something that I should be concerned about. I haven't had any bleeding and I haven't been running a fever that I know of. Do you think that I should give it some more time or give my Dr a call.

Thanks for reading this far. I am sorry if I am long winded. But I always err on side of TMI.

Sorry your HSG was so rough. I had one back in march and thankfully I had no problems. Where either of your tubes blocked maybe causing so much of the pain? I would think if your still hurting tomorrow I would be calling you dr. Good luck!

I think that one tube was definitely clear. I was watching the monitor. I think it was the left side that flowed through ok. The other one I am not sure. It got to be too much for me to concentrate on watching the monitor before I saw the other little pool of dye. A really sharp cramp made me loos me train of thought and I think I just closed my eyes. I am not going to try to guess either way. I will just have to wait to hear from my Dr. to see what the results are. She did say that all of my day 3 blood work was normal so that is a plus.

Am I to assume that it is rougher on your system if you have a blockage. Could that be why my cramping seems to be all on one side?

That could of been it...but I am no dr so I can't really say. But I can tell you I didn't have a blockage nor did I take anything prior to the hsg and it wasn't really bad so cramping like period pains about it. Wishing you all the luck in the world!

hi i had no pain at all no cramping and no bleeding and i found out yesterday that both my tubes are blocked and we need ivf so id say pain doesnt neccesaraly mean a blockage

Thanks good to know. Today was much better unless I did any heavy lifting. And then it was more like and odd awareness sensation than and pain or cramping. I think mostly I didn't take it easy like I should have. Go figure. Not I just have to wait for the results.

I guess everyone's HSG experience is as different as we all are. I usually have a pretty high pain tolerance which must be why this caught me so off guard.

Oh my goodness I an worried about mine tomorrow now! Im glad you are feeling better but would see gp if it doesn't go x

fluffystar if you are in the uk take 2 solpadine plus half an hour before you go as i said i didnt feel a thing and the tablets made me really sleepy i went straight to bed when i got back and nearly slept through the procedure lol

If you're still getting pain i'd go the Drs hun, it's probably nothing and I think its different for everyone but worth checking.
I bled after mine and had cramping for a day.
The procedure itself was a little painful but not too bad. And it only lasted a minute so completely copeable.

Try not to worry Fluffystar. I was so scared before mine but it really isn't to bad. Yes it's painful (like bad period pains) but it lasts a minute and is well worth doing as it can clear any slight blockage.
Hope it goes okay :hugs:

xx

Today and yesterday is much better. I only feel a little off if I lift something too heavy. And then it is just a mild cramp that goes away in a few minutes. I probably just really over did it the day after the HSG.

Thanks :)

Good luck Fluffy. Take time to rest. Even when you are feeling better. It will be a good day for a movie marathon and OH to cook you dinner.
