I was thrilled with my gyn wh scheduled me for an hsg the day after my first consultation after one year of ttc. Talk about prompt! Then came the results....one blocked tube. The other was open but he said he had to really force it.

All right girls... any thoughts to what next? Waiting on a sperm analysis to rule out hubbie.....but then what?

Im in exactly your position. Had hsg 2 days ago and one tube blocked. Im waiting to hear what my next steps will be. Ive been taking clomid and not sure if it will work now. Fs mentioned ivf so if we need it, i really want to get on the list. But now they have discovered one blocked tube im unsure of what comes next xxx

ladies - I had a HSG in July 2012 was told bilateral blockage (both tubes completely blocked at the uterus opening) I was scheduled for a lap/dye in October 2012 to see if they could open the tubes and to assess the damage. Once I came out of surgery I was told I was 100% all clear there was no blockage on either tube! It was explained to me that tubes spasm when your body feels pain, and because an HSG is really uncomfortable and painful tubes have a tendency to spasm. I would request for a lap/dye.

I had my HSG in July 2012 and although my tubes are open, they appeared to be dilated which means it makes it harder for the egg and sperm to meet and more chance of ectopic.

I went to see an RE and he suggested IUI with clomid and trigger shot before jumping the gun to IVF. Lo and behold on my final round I got my miracle bean! Please look into your options before jumping to IVF. Ask about IUI, although the chances of conception are not as high as IVF, the cost is much less.

Good luck ladies and keep your heads up :)

I had mine done December 18th and am in the same exact boat as you. :(

Right tube completely blocked, left tube open. I found the procedure super crazy painful, but only during the actual procedure, once it was done the cramping and sharp pains ended which was nice. The Dr said that sometimes after though the tube can sometimes unblock naturally ... or well i guess not naturally but will unblock with the dye they use. Unfortunately my period started 6 days later, so we never even had a chance to catch it that month!

We just got my hubbys test completed and all looked fine, so now we are playing the wait and see game and hopefully will catch it this month. If not we are going to have to start talking about the next steps .... the next steps scare me. I am just really hoping this works.

All is definitely not lost, especially if the tube appears to be blocked near the end closest to the uterus. Like others have said, tubes often go into spasm. Also, sometimes the tubes are just temporarily blocked just due to the random mucus and debris that sometimes clears on its own naturally. Even if it is a real block, if the block is closest to the uterus, you still have hope that your tube can be reopened with a lap surgery.

I'm going through the same thing. My HSG showed that my right tube was blocked near the uterus. I'm doing three rounds of Clomid/injectibles/TI before moving to the next step.

I had my HSG back in December and come to find out, I have no left tube! The radiology tech doing the procedure told me it could be a spasm so my RE scheduled me for an SIS, only to confirm that there was indeed no tube. I was pretty upset when I found out. It just seems like each month another obstacle pops up.

Today we also got poor sperm results. I am so so sad. What can go wrong next?

I'm in the exact same boat. Hubby had a SA done earlier this month and his count was low with low motility. I always expect the worse and bad results.
