I am freaking out about this test. Doing it on CD 13 and I didnt want to not TTC this month. She said after the test we can have unprotected bd'ing but until the test we should be very careful. Do you think I will feel up to Bd'ing? everything I read says cramping, bleeding etc. I usually O on Cd16-18. Will the xray mess with my little eggie that will probably be getting released? OMG! I am a big worry wart!

Please help! Thanks!!!

My personal experience with HSG wasn't as bad as some ladies, just a little uncomfortable while they put the catheter in and a little spotting and cramping for the rest of the day. i was fine to BD the day after, BUT I didn't ovulate that cycle and I think that was because of the HSG, because I ovulate fine every month. But one cycle of not ovulating didn't worry me that cycle, as I had more test done and dusted and had some peace of mind. I know thats hard when every cycle counts and you feel like you have missed an oppourtunity.

Don't panic about the HSG, take a couple of painkillers before you go in, and the main thing is to relax, the more tense you are, the more painful it can be.

just relax, had mine yesterday, and I didnt have time to take the 800 mg of meds (motrin) so speaking from someone who didnt have any pain meds, it was just like a papsmear took about 12 mins from start to finish!

The responses here are reassuring, I have one soon too & have been reading some horror stories. But on the plus side, also read of a good few ltttc ladies conceiving within a few months after it :)

I had my HSG done in April and I was freaking out before the procedure but honestly it wasn't bad. It did hurt a little bit when they were putting the tube in my cervix but the pain probably lasted 5 seconds. My tubes ended up being clear. We couldn't try the month of HSG because my DR put me on bcp. But I'm not sure I would of tried because I ended up bleeding/spotting for 2 weeks after it. Now we are moving on to IUI in June!

Mine wasn't a big deal either, just a little cramping while the catheter was going in. My obgyn said the cycle of your HSG is normally more fertile since everything is cleared out so go for it!

how was it?

I didn't feel a thing, I'd got myself so worked up that I was in tears going in there & I ended up laughing and saying "is that it?!" when they told me they had finished less than 5 minutes later!! Got my hysteroscopy on Monday, I'm hoping that will be the same!!

I had mine done in March and it wasn't that bad. I was super nervous beforehand but unless your tubes are blocked, it shouldn't be a problem. I can explain it as a little bit of cramping when they inflate the balloon and a good amount of pain for a short amount of time when they inject the dye. I just breathed through it and it was over in no time. There are so many horror stories but it really depends from person to person. Most people will not have much pain. I can describe it as intense period cramps. After it was over, I had some light bleeding but that's about it. I don't know about BDing because my DH refused to do it with me. I had the HSG on Wednesday and we didn't BD until Saturday because he was afraid to hurt me. I didn't O until Monday though so that was okay.

Hopefully it is very easy for you. Sending you lots of :dust:

My doctor numbed my cervix (which felt very cold, but did not hurt) and only one time did I feel any cramping and I'd had period cramps far more intense. I literally laughed at myself after because of how scared I was. I did spot for a day or so, but I was on the last day of my period (CD5) when I had it done.

GOOD LUCK LADIES!!!!!

Anyone feeling like this is their month?
