hello everyone,

Here is a little about myself, I have been married for 2 years, and me and my hubby have been trying for over 2 years, i have a 7 year old son!

I am overweight but working very very hard to lose it, lost 2 n half stone. I go to the gym 5 times a week, play squash 3 times a week and i go to curcuit training once a week!

i have had blood tests which show i have not ovulated for 3 months (which the doctor has put down to the weight loss), i had a HSG xray at 9am this morning and get my results back in a few weeks ( the wait if gunna kill me ). Im hoping my tubes are not blocked, hubby has a low sperm count which will make it harder to concieve aswell! Well with no ovulation it isnt going to work anyway but i am hoping the docs are right and i will start ovulating when i stop losing the weight!

just abit upset at the minute cos everyone around me is pregnant or just had a baby. :( I know alot of you poor women fell the same as me!!

anyway one of my reasons for coming on here is because i had the HSG at 9am this morning and still getting abit of pain from it, when i cough, sit down, stand up, is that normal????? earlier on about half past one, i had to go and lay down cos the pains got quite bad and made me feel abit crappy. I can normally handle pain quite well but i couldnt hack that pain earlier!

I feel for you, we've been TCC for 18 months - it feels like forever.

We have the low count too and have just finished the first round of testing on me (had bloods, ultrasound and HSG - so far i know the ultrasound and HSG showed everything was in full working order). We have our follow up appointment at the Fertility Clinic on Tuesday coming so looking forward to the results and the next steps.

I had my HSG around 8 hours ago and can feel cramps and such like - having the problems sitting, standing and laughing so I'm hoping it is normal! The procedure itself wasn't too bad but I'm paying for it now!

Have they been through your options for treatment yet?

Hey,

We have been ttc 14 months... a little different as we are using a donor.. so its just me who is having the tests.
But after having a feeling there was an issue with me and pushing for my doctor to run some tests I've had 3 months of blood tests, one came back I had ovulated an the other 2 came back saying I hadn't.
I have also had an ultrasound and HSG both came back ok but I've still got another 2 months before I see the specialst again.

I can sympathize with how you feel with everyone around you falling pregnant, everyone I know who started trying at the same time or after us are now pregnant or have just had their little ones..

Anyway I had my HSG in Jan, I was told there would only be a little discomfort and spotting on the day I had it.. but I was sore for a couple of days and bled for 5 days after... when I looked it up...quite a lot of ladies say they also experience this... but I would say if you feel you are in a lot of pain or poorly afterwards.. give them or your GP a ring just for peace of mind xx

hiya sorry i took my time to reply, i havnt been online for a while!! thankfully the pain only lasted the day!

i am back at the hospital on the 15th of march to find out my results, i am not looking forward to it at all, i just keep thinking about what the worse results could be, if my tubes are blocked i am under the impression that nothing can happen to help, only IVF which i cant get on the NHS cos i have a child already so it is going to be very expensive and not likely to ever happen

I'm sorry you're in pain. If you don't mind my asking, how bad was the pain? I have mine scheduled for next Wednesday and am quite nervous...especially because my DH can't go so I have to drive myself.

On the plus side, having an HSG increases your chances of getting pregnant for a few months so I'll send lots of :dust: your way! Hopefully you get pregnant because of it. :hugs:

I was just stalking this thread because I had a HyCoSy/HSG done on Monday and have had quite a lot of bleeding afterwards. They told me a day of spotting - this was more like AF! One of my tubes looked blocked but they cleared it during the test and the other was clear. Apparently even if both looked blocked during the test, they can unbock afterwards as the tubes spasm to work the dye out or something.

Hope it doesn't come to IVF for you but, if it does, have you ever considered egg sharing? Look into it with fertility clinics in your area. Basically the clinic gives you a free IVF cycle but you give half your eggs away to a recipient who might be unable to produce them herself due to things like early menopause or ovarian cancer etc. Normally if you don't produce very many you don't even have to give any away yet still get a free cycle!
Some people don't like the thought of giving away part of them but I thought I would suggest it as an option as it sounds like you are in the same situation as me where NHS will not fund IVF and it's too expensive to fund yourself. :hugs:
