Anyone have any experiences of this procedure being painless!? I'm horrible with pain and so nervous! Any advice?

ooo! Good luck on your procedure!!

Sorry, mine was HORRIBLE. I am bad with pain too. The prep work for the procedure wasn't bad, so I thought the actual procedure was going to be cake too. But, the moment they inserted the dye, immediate pain for me.

However, I was told before I got mine done that the women who had pain like I did, usually was due to blockage. Mine was soo blocked with gunk, he increased the pressure of the dye 3 times before the blockage was flushed out...OUCH! It was basically like a cramp, but one that felt like I was being ripped apart inside. LOL, my doctor told me at the moment that what I was feeling is equivalent to being in labor! Yea, well I'd rather actually BE in labor if that is the case lol.

They tell you to take a strong pain killer 1 hour before the procedure to help with the pain. I didn't though.

Hope you have a better experience than me! Good luck!

Hey, I had mine last wed. I was prescribed a ponstan to take before and I didn't feel a thing other then a little discomfort! I was so worried about it but I had nothing to worry about! Good luck, hopefully it will wash out d tubes and we get our BFPs!!

I was ridiculously nervous, got myself so worked up over it. It's not a nice experience, but half of that is the whole situation of TTC and the worries. However it was so much beter, ad quicker, than I thought. And the staff helped with tha a lot.
Hope it goes/went OK. x

Hi everyone
New here just joined, I have just returned home from having a hycosy at my local hospital, so glad it's over , overall not bad just the part when the dye goes in, soo painful feels like the worst period pain ever waiting to take more painkillers, the best part was that all clear and will now wait until my next app on the 31st OCt and see what the next step will be,also was told that my cervix was quite low and could be due to not having had children. Me and ah have been trying now for about 4 years so needed to have test to put my mind at rest.Good luck to everyone x

Thanks everyone!! It was a little more painful than I was expecting, but the good thing is it was really quick. It was at noon yesterday and I was concerned bc I bleed a lot and cramped until about 11pm. But tubes were clear and healthy! We are now labeled "unexplained secondary infertility" We are hoping the procedure cleared something and we will get our bfp soon. If not, we will schedule IUI for december.

Had mine today and literally didn't feel a thing. I was shaking and crying due to all the people posting horror stories on here & I actually laughed when I realised it was finished as I didn't feel even the slightest discomfort. In fact my ultrasound scan was worse cos it took so much longer.

Good news that they are all clear! What did they say ur next steps are, if they have put you as unexplained, have you done many other tests or do they just go straight to iui? You are lucky they told you right away, all d doc said to me was they look grand, and you will find out more at your appointment - not till Dec 16th!! I have to wait so long! Please god it cleared the path for a bfp for us!! :happydance:

Glad you HSG went well! I hope this cleared the path for ya!

So glad I found this thread as seems we are all going thru this together, I am feeling alot better today but now feel really bloated and still bleeding a little,I am so glad its all over as was dreading it and nearly give up half way thru but was reassured by the nurse who was really lovely and was told I would regret it if I gave up now. I am due to ov on sun so maybe give this month a miss and hope next month will be more positive. Good luck everyone and hopefully we will posting our good news soon xxx

Hi just wanted to say I hope the HSG works for u! I had one done june 30th after TTC #2 for almost 1 1/2 years (and 2 miscarriages in 2010). I was due to start clomid august 8th, but didn't have to because I got my BFP on July 24th! I pretty much got pregnant a week after the HSG. I never thought it would happen to me, but it did! There is hope! I'm praying for a BFP for you soon! xo

That is awesome! I am praying for the same results. I feel like I actually have some hope now. Congrats on baby # 2! My little man is so anxious to get a sibiling and I hope it happens soon!
