Hi

I have a history of long, irregular cycles, which are affected by my weight (currently doing slimming world and trying to get as much weight gone as possible).

Earlier this year I was taking agnus castus (amongst other supplements) and got my cycles down to a regular 43-45 days.

We were due to go on honeymoon at the beginning of June and I cut out all supplements as I didn't want to be stopped by the turkish security and have to try and explain what everything was for. And I really think that's what's messed my cycles up (currently cd111).

I started taking all the supplements again as soon as we got back (about a month and a half ago) and had some pale pink spotting for a few days about 2.5 weeks ago. But nothing really since (though as I type this I've got a bit of ewcm and have had cramps for the past couple of days, which I do tend to get before af, but also before ov too obviously, but because I don't have opks with me I have no way of finding out either way).

The original plan was to focus on my weight loss over the next few months and go to see our Dr in January. But, I suggested that if I lose another 14lbs to show that I'm taking the weight loss seriously, then we should go back as soon as that 14lbs is lost. However, hubby wants to stick to the original plan and to really go for it over the next few months. I can see where he's coming from, but I'm panicking that af won't come and that I'll be going back to the Dr in January and saying "oh by the way I haven't had af since before we went away in June" :nope:

I'm sorry for all the rambling, not sure if there's much point to this post, but any advice/support would be greatly appreciated

I would say if you want to go the dr you should go. I was in a similar situation with my dh 12 months after we had been ttc with no success. He thought it was a bit soon to go the drs. I said I was going for me really to put my mind at ease. Im pleased we did because a year and a half later we are just going for ivf and the process and waiting seems like forever . I'm glad I didn't leave it another six months.

I would ask dr for 21 day bloods to see if you are ovulating. You can still 'go for it' whilst dr beginning investigating. It will take weeks for a referral to a specialist so you might as well get the ball rolling. X

I'm in two minds. In some ways I just want to get there and get it over and done with, but then in other ways I want to wait it out a few months and get some of the weight gone so I can at least show her that I'm taking this seriously and want to succeed.

I know it's a tricky one. Two months isn't long to wait and you will lose weight before your appointment then. My friend lost loads of weight waiting for ivf and got pregnant whilst she was dieting. The dr told her the weight loss helped her to concieve naturally. hOpe you get pregnant soon too. X

Thank you :hugs: that means a lot and the same goes for you with your ivf

I guess it does make sense to lose the weight before going. Maybe it will even give me a boost confidence wise and I'll be able to fight for the help/tests that we could possibly need.

I think I would be tempted to go to the doctor to sort out my cycle. Not necessarily a 'help me to conceive visit'. That way you can get your cycle in order while you continue to lose weight and stick to your January plan.
Good luck with everything! :hugs:

I agree:hugs:

Thanks for the responses ladies :hugs:

I think I will give myself until the end of September and then if nothing by then I will make myself an appointment to see the Dr and then stick to the original plan to go back in January. Hopefully some more weight will be gone by then too :)

I agree with the other ladies, I'm sure your dr will know you are serious by being there and also about the weight loss
I left it ages to go to dr and I regret waiting so much, I know your only talking of waiting a couple of months but you will still have plenty of time to lose weight especially with waiting times for appointments and waiting for certain days to do blood tests etc

Im having a long cycle at the moment, typical as the next af I will be starting ivf but as usual its another delay!

good luck in what you decide :)

Best of luck star. It's so annoying waiting for af before ivf. Usually you don't want her to turn up. I wish is gone to the doctors sooner too:-/ xx

Thank you lazydaisys, I'm going to call clinic Mon to make sure it can take this long after provera, it's just constant waiting and I just want to get started now!
