Huggies leaking?

I found huggies were rubbish, everyone told me they weren't much good too.. I've stuck to pampers for a while now, find them the best  x

I found that Huggies leak for boys (not enough padding up front) - but my sister has no trouble with them for her daughter (who is only 1 month older than Buzz.) :)

Huggies won't leak if you take a moment to loosen the elastic away from the edge of the diaper. If you don't do this, they will leak. Dumb that you have to prep a diaper, but it works :flower:

I do this, I always straighten them out before putting them on and I always check the sides of the legs too! I've done everything and they still leak, just had the first ever poop leakage too, all over his clothes, this has never happened and he's almost 9 weeks. That was enough to send me into the garage to get the Pampers out! They are also size 3's so I will know by tomorrow if he needs a smaller size again and it is just because there too big or if it really is the huggies!! Although right now I HATE huggies!!! Lol xx

We have a problem with huggies leaking. All sizes have leaked so far. Luckily we only have 1 pack of size 3s left. Pampers have been great but smell like chemicals!! Sainsburys newborn were good but they've recently changed and are rubbish!! I'm temped to try tesco or asda ones.

I prefair pampers. i did try huggies newborn though 4lbs-11lbs and my Lo was close to 9lbs and they ;leaked.

Huggies are sending me vouchers :-) xx

How do you get in touch with them?? Really want to have a moan coz we've destroyed so many outfits with leaks!!

I went onto their website (just type into google) and went to contact us then email and u just send them a message, I really needed to moan coz am fed up of my little man being wet! It just shows Ive put a Pampers on him about 2 hours ago and low and behold no leakage (and they where the exact same size) Am sorry but it's pampers all the way for me!!!! Xx

I despise Huggies. Waste of money! I stocked up on them before Ella was born because we had lots of vouchers for the brand (wonder why lol) and we took them back to Tesco and they happily swapped them for Pampers. Ella would leak out literally SECONDS after being changed! xxx

That's how I ended up with so many of them as well!! Silly vouchers! Thought I was saving myself money... Cost more in clothes coz of all the poo stained ruined clothes we got!!!

I had lot of vouchers for HUggies Newborn so stocked up on size 1's and got a good deal at asda and stocked up on size 2's. ThenI read about all the problems people have with HUggies and panicked, but I needed have worried. I have only used the Pampers freebies I have had and also a couple I was given at a hospital appointment when I forgot to take spare nappies! And I hated the Pampers. I love Huggies, we have moved through the Newborns 1-3 and I also have some HUggies Stay Dry in Size 3 which I actually prefer but still have a load of Newborn size 3 to use up as I bought them in the last Boots event. We have only ever had a couple of leaks and only when the nappy is full to the brim in the morning where my son has slept through, but its only happened a few times. I've heard so many people say they either suit your baby or they don't and thakfully we have gotten on great with them!

I find going up a size helpful in stopping leaks but maybe the size 3s are still too big for your LO and that can definitely cause leaks. Are the leaks around the edges or up his back? In most cases, the leg gussets don't fit snugly around their legs if the diaper is too big.

My LO is nearly 8 months, weighs 22lbs and still wears size 3. He wears size 4 too as 22lbs falls into both sizes. I believe size 3 usually starts at 15 or 16lbs, depending on the brand.

I do prefer pampers for my boys; Huggies tended to leak a bit more in my experience. Different for all babies though!! :) Good luck!

On both huggies and pampers size 3's says from 9lb to 20lb the leaking is up his back at both sides, he's only 10lb now so I dnt think that he needs the next size up,I've got pampers size 3s in the garage so I will try them, if they leak then mayb sizes 3's are just too big and I will go back to the 2's for a bit. Thanx, this is first time I've used huggies at all xx

Not sure where you are from but I just checked my huggies package (size 3 little movers) and it says from 16-28 lbs. So If you are in the US a size 3 is WAY too big for a 10 lb baby. A size 2 huggies diaper (checked that package too) is from 12- 18lbs so idealy LO should be in a newborn diaper or a size 1 diaper : ) :flower:

If you pre soak the poo stained clothing and then scrub it with a solution of ½ stain remover and ½ dawn dish washing soap it should get the stains out. We had to do that to most of Evy’s clothing, before we figured out she just didn’t get on well with formula, she was having quite nasty poo’s.

Is there anyway you can return the bigger diapers to the store and get a smaller size or a brand that you like? I had to return Evy’s diapers yesterday as she can use pampers, but now that she is getting bigger Huggies brand seems to be the best fit. (Returned 2 packages of pampers and 1 smaller Huggies.)

They gladly gave me store credit and I went on to buy proper brand / size with it.

It might be worth the trouble especially if LO will be in a smaller size for a bit still.

Am from the uk, and I dnt know why but the huggies and pampers here are defiantly size 3's and the weights are defiantly 4-9kg 9-20lb (why they are different here than the us if that's where u are I dnt know lol) I was using huggies super dry. At first I used pampers size 1 which only went to 9lb then I used size 2's which where 6-13lbs and then obviously am using size 3's which are 9-20lb (I am only using size 3's coz I ran out of 2's and already had the 3's in and he fell within the weight limit.) The pampers size 3's are fine, I will admit they look a little big on him but that's coz am used to seeing the smaller ones. Xx

My little boy is about 9lb I think, and he's not long been in size 1's! He was in prem nappies for the first 3 1/2 weeks (although he was only born 3 days early) and I use huggies and think they are brilliant :) x

Now I love Huggies we don't have any issues with them now but I don't know how on earth they expect a 4lb baby to fit in the Newbors size 1's!! My little chap was 7lbs7oz and they leaked on him like mad! So did pampers... The only ones that didn't leak on him were the Asda little angels size 0 nappies.

I didnt put rylan in 3's till last week weighing 13lb. He's Still small noone knows where he hides the weight lol they were fine...no leaks or anything. I use pampers simply dry...cheaper than supermarkets own round here lol

We use huggies all the time. The only time they have leaked is at night if LO pees a lot. Maybe a handful of times and he is 6 months. I've had the same problem with pampers and store brands too. Just bought the new huggies overnight diapers and they are a life saver. They have extra padding in the front. Maybe try these for during the day too?
