I'm pretty shocked that something as natural as breastfeeding has been turned into money-making business! It says that some even choose to feed straight from the breast if they don't choose the expressed option. I thought that people lost the ability to latch at around 8 years old though?

Has anyone tasted breast milk? I got curious and tried it (gross I know) but it doesn't taste nice! Not something I would pay to drink.

I haven't tried mine, but I was extended breastfed and I remember it tasted quite good and sweet...but that was 3 year old toddler milk, I know it changes for the age of the baby.

I have read it can be good for cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy, but I just read that somewhere.

I personally think milk is for babies and small children, but we drink cow milk in to adulthood. I think human milk would be more appropriate for humans at any age than cow milk. I don't think it should be sold like that though.

I've tasted my breastmilk - it's something you've just got to do, isn't it! It's not bad but I wouldn't willingly drink it, let alone pay for it. I can understand in cancer cases it can be very helpful, but I think it's wrong that it seems to have become something of a delicacy and is being used as a money-making opportunity.

I've tasted mine as well and I think it tastes good, kinda like melted vanilla ice cream. Back before I bought a pump, I was trying to introduce a bottle (had a dr appointment that we would have to travel a long distance for so she wouldn't have been able to go with us). I tried formula but she pretty much refused it. After tasting that cardboard-like crap, I thought "no wonder!!" and bought a pump. After she recognized the taste of it (my milk) , it wasn't too long after she actually accepted a bottle

All I have to say is if I was over there in China, I'd be selling my extra milk and saying "Pay up, please" $2,600 would be awfully nice right about now

It is sweet but mine almost had a musky taste to it...maybe it's just me! I can understand why poorly people might want it...after all their immune systems will be affected and we know breast milk contains antibodies etc to help protect our baby's vunerable immune systems.

I remember seeing Russell Howard's programme when he mentioned someone making breast milk ice cream. Not sure if that caught on!

This reminds me of the conclusion of John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath when the mother offers her breast to the dying man after her baby is killed. In retrospect that is a rather morbid comparison, but the first one that popped into my mind.

In a world of perversions I'm surprised it hadn't happened sooner. People pay for sex, for inflicting pain on others, for defecating and urinating on others, this is tame to me in comparison to what crazy stuff people get up to. Like anything, if someones willing to pay then there's a market.

Not something I think is right, moral or okay, but hey ho, this forum rants about peoples "right to choose what they feed their kids" as adults, I suppose its their right to choose what they feed themselves....

Me? I'd rather a nice cuppa tea and a choccy bickie any day!

Some men find breastmilk a turn on and actually want to nurse from them. Not surprise if they ware willing pay money for it. Better than some gross stuff that other men will pay (involves feces!)

I can't see someone wanting to be a wet nurse for free tho...? Unless its for a close friend or family member of course! I don't have a problem with wet nursing or buying expressed human milk, its a better option than formula surely? And as we all know getting the milk out takes time, so you would need paying for that time!

As for the grown men thing, well each to their own but it's not for me lol!!!
