'hungry baby' milk at a week old!?!?

Looked for hungry baby milk in the shops yesterday and we don't sell it here either. Wondered why I'd never seen it, that's why!

I'm surprised to read it says suitable from birth but to be feeling like she has to resort to this when the baby is week old and wanting feeding every two hours has left me a bit open-mouthed tbh. Did she do no research whatsoever about what babies are like?!

It's not for baby's benefit it's for her. What a twit, what did she expect babies do?

it's not good, a week old babies tummy is tiny hence the frequent feedings, hungry baby milk will stretch the tummy and being designed to keep baby fuller for longer the newborn would not get the calories it needs I would imagine

I gave my LO hungry baby at about 8 days old and got told off by HV. it does say from birth (thats why I thought it was ok) but it has empty calories and just bloats them apparently. I'm attempting to try him on it after I finish this box of formula as he is getting extremely greedy, taking 5 oz at his normal times (4 hourly) but recently I've had to give him 3 oz in between, hes putting on half a pund a week and getting really rounda nd fat lol, I'm scared he's going to get obese :-/

Emma,

My LO now takes 7 ounces a few feeds per day, lol! He still has an off 3 or 5 oz. feed, but he eats a lot! DH and I make sure that we're aware of the total number of ounces per day. We still document every feed. The doctor said it is fine. He is hungry and growing. I would not worry about obesity at such a young age. Please talk with your pediatrician before you change anything. :hugs:

thanks everyone for the input on my post - I'm still learning these things. my LO is 8 weeks and was just worried as people are saying to me 'wow my bay's 5 months and only weighs 13 pounds' but my OH's sister has a 18 month old and hes huge I just dont want him getting huge. but yeah he's not moving around much atm so I guess it makes sense that when he can do more things he'll shed some weight :)

It's crazy, isn't it? There are so many things to learn when you're a new mommy. I find myself learning new things every day.
