My lo is 13 weeks old and is well over a stone. He's a good boy who loves his milk but this last week or so he has been getting hungry at least an hour before he is due his feed and now wakes in the night earlier than normal for a feed!

Today I bought hungry baby milk to try!! I've tried upping his normal sma gold but he either won't take the extra ounces or is sick! But still wants fed before the 3 hours!

I'm aware this could be a growth spurt but he has been a hungry baby from day one! Should I try it and see what happens? Anybody else use sma hungry baby? X

I don't have specific advice on the formula as I've only breastfed, but why not just feed him earlier/more often? Their stomachs are so little. He may be going through a growth spurt, but his tummy hasn't caught up, so he needs little amounts more frequently until everything settles down a bit.

My boy is a whopper too!! We tried hungry baby milk and to he honest I don't think it made much difference. We actually switched him to comfort milk because he suffered with terrible wind and upped him to more feed and he's taken 8oz every 4 hours since 12/13 weeks.

I agree. Give feeding more often a go first before trying hungry baby milk.

My DD3 is 13 weeks old too and she feeds every 2-3 hours and has 6-8oz per feed. xxx

Thanks ladies for your reply, that's what I've been doing but doesn't seem to be working! I might try a bottle of it and see what happens x

Try and feed him when he shows signs of hunger.

They need the blood sugar to stay stable when they are growing. So more often rather than just big meals.

3 hour feeding is a restriction we put on babies.

My lo gets cranky around the 3 hour Mark well use to he would put his hands in his mouth and get upset until fed. Now it's every 2 or so hours and he just gets upset until he gets his bottle he crys until he's red in the face and as soon as that bottles in his mouth he stops!! : ( I've tried upping the amounts but he's just sick or won't take it! X

I use hungry baby and to be honest my lo sleeps better and is more satisfied.
You know what's best for your baby, if you try and it works then go with it IMO.

Good luck.

Have you tried feeding every 2 hours rather than upping quantity.

It'll probably only be a short term thing.

I agree with the majority try feeding on demand rather than on a fixed schedule. If you think about it, we as adults don't generally eat at set times, we eat when hungry and as much/little as we want. Why should a baby who is growing at a rapid rate be any different?

I feed Max every 2 hours, he only goes 3 hours maybe once a day. Sometimes, he starts showing signs of hunger after an hour and a half! I've just posted a thread because he seems so hungry all the time, but I'm just giving him what he wants.

I'm wary of hungry baby milk, as it can make babies constipated. I would rather the inconvenience of feeding him more often, than dealing with a baby with a sore tummy.

I agree with Bean, just feed when hungry.

We feed on demand. The 3-4hr feeding schedule is a load of crap. Esp during growth spurts.

J barely gets to 3hours, ever. Usually wants feeding 7.5oz every 2-2.5hrs.

Babies are growing all the time so it's understandable for them to want feeding often.
