I seem to have a piglet of a baby.
She's nearly 4 weeks, and she's drinking 4oz every 2 hours most of the time, and she will go every 3 hours during the night.
After the 4oz she's crying and looking for more. Is it ok for a 3 week old to have 5oz? I've looked at sma hungry baby milk because my other daughter moved onto that at 10 weeks old.
I know it says from birth on it but I didn't want to move her onto it too soon x

Ask your HV. I'm not sure if you should increase the oz or change the formula x

My hv told me that when the baby is draining his bottle to move up an oz. She said to do that rather than switch formula as hungry baby milks are hardwe for their little systems to digest.

Do check with your own hv though as they may have different advice.

I've never contacted the hv for advice before. Do I just ring and ask the question or do they come out? X

I would delay switching to hungry baby milk for as long as possible (if ever), as it is not very kind to young babies tummies, and can cause constipation and discomfort. Its really ment for babies closer to weaning age (I really cant understand why they say suitable form birth, as it can sometimes do more harm than good giving it too young). Just give your baby as much as she wants, whenever she wants and as long as she is not throwing it back up or gaining excessive weight then its all good. xxx

Are you in the UK? Once you've been discharged by the midwife the HV should come out to you a couple of times before you go to them to get your LO weighed etc.

You can always give them a call. Just have a look in the front of your red book for the numbers.

I think I would probably agree with PP x

^^^ wss.

My lo has always been a greedy guzzler. Sure he was on 5oz at about 5 weeks ish and is now on 6oz every 3hrs through the day x

I was also told if baby is draining bottle to go up an oz! I'm sure I was making 5oz for my baby at 4 weeks. Like others have said, speak to your hv, is there any drop on clinics at children centres by u? I go to a baby play and the hv is there every week to see if u wish which is great if I have any questions or want to get her weighed! This is all if u are in uk? It's a sure start children's centre I go to and they are great. Xxx

Yeah I'm in the UK. I'm going to ring my hv tomorrow because I don't see her again till baby is 6 weeks for the 6week check up. Thanks everyone for your replies xx
