So our little Katy-Rose seems to be feeding every 2-3 hours and eating 4-5oz maybe even 6oz...we were feeding her SMA number 1 but that didn't seem to be satisfying her and she seemed constipated on it too...so a few days ago we switched to the SMA blue tin for hungrier babies...and she seems to be still eating the same amount at the same time spacing too  although her poos seem softer on this milk!! Anyone got any advice on any better milk that would satisfy her more? Thanks ladies and just because i can't help but show her off coz i'm a proud mummy here she is our 11 week old princess <3

I'm afraid I haven't got any advice but i'm having a similar problem :/ my girl is 6 Weeks and was drinking 160ml (about 5 and a half oz) every 3-4 hours, started her on the sma blue tin hungry baby milk which helped her go a little longer between feeds, but then she started still being hungry after a bottle :/ I've recently increased her amount to 190ml bottles thinking she'd perhaps have maybe another 10 ml on what she normally had but no, she's finishing them too. They seem to be satisfying her but it concerns me that she's eating that much, as I looked it up and that's the average for a 4 month old :(

Her feeding routine sounds normal to me! Babies have tiny tummies, so they do feed often :)

I have read that it doesn't always make them last longer between feeds but they should seem more settled / satisfied on it between the feeds. We moved my first daughter onto hungry baby and we are now considering my 2 week old - she is already on 4oz/120mil every 2 hours in the day, she starts gurning way before her 2 hours is up though which is what worries me and when she does eat her tummy makes a gurgle noise as if it's been empty forever and she cries like she hasn't eaten in ages. She seems better at night though and goes 3 hours between feeds and isn't as upset. I have the HV over today so I'm going to ask and double check.

We swapped our LO on the cow and gate hungrier milk he seems more satisfied and can drink a little bit more although it doesn't always make him go for long the HV said that there was no harm trying him on it as long as there not a sickly baby or get tummy ache alot although I swapped LO when he has just over 5 weeks x

Alex was the same a few weeks ago if she still seems hungry after a feed make up another 2 or 3 ounces so she is fully satisfied.. also are u giving her water inbetween feeds? I give alex cool boiled water between feeds which fills them up a bit more:)

yeah we give Katy sugar water 2 a day we are considering giving her baby rice as she just seems to be hungry all the time!! xx

I done the exact same as you as Ryan was taking 5oz every 3 hours (sometimes less) but I also found that it was making no difference to how much he had or how often! I switched right back to the stage 1 gold sma and just stuck with it. After about 2 weeks he has now settled down in his own and is taking 6oz every 4 hours through the day and has his last bottle around 8pm and doesn't wake again till 5am! My advice would be to go back to first stage milk and ride it out, your lo will eventually sort out their own schedule and slow down as their tummy grows xx

oh right, im startng my lil man on solids this sunday 4 days of rice then 4 days of veg and 4 of fruit sooo excited

My ds was a super hungry little boy. I switched him to hungry baby milk at 12 weeks as he was easily having 7-8 oz every feed. It does take a while to get into their system though. I would also speak to the health visitor, obviously depending on how big your lo is also has a bit of a say in how much milk she needs, but it doesnt sound like she is having a really huge amount for her age. I think the 'guide' is 2.5oz x each lb your baby weighs per day is pretty normal (this is just a guide so not gospel, and obviously changing depending on growth spurts and such). My lg isnt a particularly hungry baby, but I would offer that he longer you can stay off hungry baby milk the better - only because it gives you a place to go before you start weaning so that you can get closer to the 6 months.

x

I would say that sounds pretty normal, depending on the age/weight of your baby. My daughter is on 150 ml (little over 5 oz) every 2.5-4 hours (works out to be 6 feeds a day usually, we feed on demand). She's tiny though (10 lbs even, 9th percentile) so eats less than most 10 week olds. My HV said this was exactly what she should be eating and the frequency sounded right. Don't get too caught up on what it says on the back of the tin. Just listen to what your baby says he/she needs. I think it's much better to give more nutrition (an extra feed) than to use the hungry baby milks, which just contain lots of fillers that don't do much from a health standpoint.

I was told the correct amount should be their weight in kg x 150-200ml and then divided by the number of feeds. If you are roughly close to that, then that is probably right for your LO.

Eating every 2/3/4 hours is normal, their tummys are tiny and growing needs a lot of calories. There are also several growth spurts bfore 6 months, they last a week or two and then settle down again.
