I'm currently on maternity leave but will be going back to work full time in October. Hubby will be finishes his full time employment then and will be a SAHD, hopefully working part time at evenings and weekends.

If he hasn't found a part time job by the time I go back to work, will he be able to claim JSA or anything like that whilst he is job hunting? I'm not sure what the rules are as he is voluntarily leaving his full time employment to search for part time work.

Any advice would be appreciated as I know nothing about benefits. Does my income affect any benefits he would receive?

Thanks

I think if you give up a job you arent allowed to 'sign on' to JSA for a certain period of time. And as far as other benefits would be concerned would depend on your income from your job. I believe if you work over 24 hours and earn 16k or under you may be entitled to wtc & ctc. You will get child benefit which is approx £81 per month. Not sure if you will get any help towards rent/mortgage and council tax etc.

Check entitledto.com that may help.

xx

No he will not be entitled to anything but you will probably get tax credits to boost income.(your income depending)
Sorry it will be your job to support family.

He will be able to get jsa if he is looking but after a certain period of time think its 6/8 weeks :)
