Husband really wants Sienna Harper for girls name, I do like it but I'm worried it's a really common name now and generally I prefer slightly unusual. Our daughter is Safia so thought it would be nice to have something a bit more unusual. What do you think to the name?

I love the name Athena but not sure if Harper goes as middle name? But any name I suggest husband just says "I like Sienna" grrrr anyone else having problems with other hall's and name choices? Xxx

My OH liked Aliyah and I liked Amaya so we picked Alaya (so far - we're still WTT!)

Sienna is a lovely name and not tooooo popular but what about a compromise? Sierra is less common than Sienna or Alena (rhymes with Sienna if he likes that sound and is a bit more like Athena).

Good luck. Know how hard it is with stubborn husbands!

I think Sienna Harper is a beautiful name but I did take Sienna of my list due to it being too popular. My hubby is driving me up the wall with boy names, he won't even consider any of the names I like but he has chosen rubbish names :grr:

Sienna Harper is lovely, I only know one sienna and she's 7, however if u really don't want it then there has to be compromise, it needs both of your agreement, after all she's your daughter too x

I love the name Sienna Harper - I think it's beautiful! Luckily your husband has excellent taste and the name he is stuck on is a gorgeous one, look at it that way! Although the name Sienna may be "slightly" popular at the moment - it's still not a "common" name by any means. I still think it's a unique and special name!! I don't know any - never met one in 35 years! I know there may be some new babies born with that name, or young children bopping around with that name - but def not over-used!

There are lots of Sienna's around where I live, but I'm of the opinion that popularity shouldn't matter. If you both love it, then go for it.

I do like the name Sienna, I just think my problem is it's not unusual like my daughter's name, and I really don't want to wind up with her being a Sienna of many at school, purely because I was always known as "little Amy" at school as all the other zillions of Amy's were taller than me. Always wound me up lol. Tried the compromise of name so it's similar tried Serena, Serena etc but it just gets met with "I like Sienna" grrrr.

Lol, that's true, at least it's a nice name he's stuck his guns too, hehe you wouldn't say he has good taste though if you heard suggestions he had for boys names - one example is "Biff" sounds even better with our surname "Smith" haha. Xx

I love the name Athena! It'd be on my girl's name list if my friend hadn't already used it x

My friend has just named her daughter sienna Harper it's beautiful !! X

What about Mienna for a different take on Sienna? :flower:

I have a Sienna! And since having her I've been hearing everywhere. Yesterday at the supermarket, today at the library, last week at the library, the other day at swimming...But that's here in Australia where it's around n.15 on the list. If you want a more uncommon name I second pp suggestion of Sierra or how about Vienna?

I like sienna its a pretty nameand so it Athena. I did hear someone calling their child senna i dunno if it was the local accent but i thought poor child. Senna being constipation tablets. Would that suggestion put him off? Lazy pronunciation by others?

I've got another suggestion! Safia and Amara?

I tried Sierra as a suggestion, it got "No I like Sienna" and also tried Vienna, I quiet liked it but got told "don't be silly" :-( Why are men such bloody hard work, why can't he just agree with me instead :haha: xx

YES!!!!! Perfect!!!! Haha love it, will defo try that one :-) think that may just be enough to put him off slightly, oohhh I'm evil :haha: I do like the name Sienna so I'm probably just being really silly, trying to put him off it, but it's just not what I envisaged if that makes sense next to Safia, even though I think Safia and Sienna sound nice together, I just really like names that aren't to heard of or too popular, purely because I hated being referred to as Amy W or little Amy all the time in school and work xxx

Oohh thats pretty!!!! I will defo mention that one to him, I know it will probably be met with "I like Sienna" so bloody stubourn, but defo worth a try  xx

I know a Mienna and she's really sweet. What kind of disease does it sound like?! He's just making things up because he wants Sienna! :flow:

I also have a friend with a niece named Mietta. I think this is really pretty too.

Exactly!!!! That's what I said, he's just making up excuses and not even listening to any other name I suggest now because he wants Sienna. I would really like Athena, but I know he's not 100% sold on that one so at least I try and suggest other names or names that are similar in the hope we can agree. Wow Mietta, that's beautiful!!! I really like that. But let me guess what reaction I will get "I like Sienna" agghhhh ((bangs head against wall)) lol Thank you for all the suggestions though, I'm just going to keep throwing them out there until he gets fed up lol xxx
