Hi ladies,

Wonder if anyone can share their knowledge of hysteroscopys please. I'm trying hard not to google since I know I'll see something that will make me stress and obsess :)
I'm TTC #1 4 months now. I had some ongoing problems with bleeding & pain during BD'ing so was sent for a scan. They found blood in my uterus and are taking me back in for a hysteroscopy but I really want to understand what it could be and if it will likely have an impact on making a little baby :) any advice or story share would be good!

I just had a hysteroscopy back in April. Back in January, I apparently had polyups in the lining and in uterus. Plus we was doing fertility testing to see if I am able to carry. Plus I had a d n c done at the same time. So in April I had the procedure.

It was done by iv sedation, and it was nothing to it at all.

I barely had any pain, it was just like typical menses cramps. Plus I was just finishing AF. Then for a week after that it was like I had AF again, then it was all done.
And come to find out there was no polyups to be removed :) and my uterus was perfect.

Hey SKP, thanks for the reply! So glad you had a good result! What's a d n c?? I see your having IVF, sounds like you've had a tough time with this.
Well my saga is that about 8 years ago I went for a ultrasound on my tummy since I had a lot of pain. I was told I was pregnant (which I absolutely couldn't have been even though she was adamant I was!) When I went to the doctor and told him what I'd been told he done a test and confirmed I wasn't. He brushed it off as nothing but it's always bothered me that there was something there to be seen if she said that. Anyway, fast forward to last week when I went to the gyno and she done an internal and found blood in my uterus (same thing as 8 years ago... who knows?!), which is why I've to get this hysteroscopy. I'm terrified and just so unsure of what is happening and really want to get pregnant already so I'm so glad to hear that it's relatively straight forward! x

D n c is dilation and cutilage. Something like that. Its when they clean everything out. Most common for miscarriages.

The surgery is nothing to it at all.

Sounds like you have a rough time as well.
