I've been trying so hard to find a job, I've applied everywhere in this town.. and surrounding cities.. I call after a week of turning in my application and I get, "we'll contact you if we're interested".

How am I supposed to be a good mommy if I can't find a job?

I might have to get back with FOB, which I hate the idea of.. I just don't know what to do at this point.

How did you do it?

First of all, you can't just get back together with the FOB just because you can't find a job. That would be irresponsible to your happiness as well as the happiness of FOB and baby. If you had problems before that led to a break up, that is not a good environment to bring a baby into.

I think really all you can do about finding a job is keep looking and keep applying. Have you thought of taking classes to find a career to go into? I'm the same age as you and I'm considering going to school to become an esthetician. If you think you can, you should look into a career school that has a subject you're interested in!

Good luck :).

Also, this forum isn't as active as the pregnancy forums. People won't reply to your posts right away. Don't take it personally!

I agree. There are plenty of single parents but not all use this part of BnB. Its open so people dont tend to post their business. Plus your in America, some of us are in UK..

Anyway, I agree that to get back with FOB would just be silly. You dont want to be with him and I dont believe in anyone forcing themselves to be with anyone. You are your own person and it might be hard to find a job but keep searching, something will come up and you will be ok.

Not all of us have time to get on here every day so dont take it personally not to get a reply immediately after posting! And you have to bear in mind the time difference. Not everyone is in the USA. I agree that it would be silly to get back with FOB just cos you can't get a job. You obviously had reasons for splitting so to go back simply for that reason would be ridiculous. Have you looked into benefits? I don't know how the system works over there. Have you got family who can help you out? Also I know that over here people are reluctant to take on a woman who is already pregnant as they will only get a short time of working from her before she goes off on maternity leave. Just because you can't get a job immediately does not mean you will be a bad mother. You need to have more faith in yourself. With the climate how it is currently there are a lot of people out of work through no fault of their own!

I thought I replied - I wasn't taking it personally at all.

Check with the Department of Human Services. They may be able to give you job search site. They also might be able to help with resume writing and interview skills.

I agree that getting back with fob doesn't sound like a good idea at all. I don't know how the system works over there if you can't find a job but hopefully you'll get some sort of help :hugs: xx

Hey!
I was in the same boat a few weeks ago. I graduated Uni in July with a good degree [2:1], was with my boyfriend and then got pregnant. I then realised how much of an idiot and a child my boyfriend was and so left him. I couldn't find a job with my degree and contemplated going back to my ex for the security it could offer. I had to sign up for job-seekers which broke my heart as I felt I was letting everyone down. However... I thought of it in another way. Perhaps now was a time to rethink my goals and aspirations, for the moment anyway, and I looked into other areas I was confident in. Since then I have got a job as a HCA within the NHS and I feel proud of myself for getting their under my own steam.
It takes time but its worth it if at the end of the day you can get into a job that you really want to be a part of. It is pointless getting a job you won't enjoy because sure as eggs are eggs you'll end up resenting it and quitting. Hang in there!! :hugs:

There aren't that many jobs about atm, have you tried local supermarkets etc?

Yes. I have tried even the lowest of the low: fast food places.

I'm telling you, I've applied literally everyyywhere.
