I thought my son had a milk allergy, which he may still we're not sure yet, and since I've been BF and FF, I had to transition to BF exclusively. Which was hard cos I was already 7 weeks in with a low supply. Also had to quit eating any milk, which as a vegetarian of five years sucks :( but of course it's for my son's well being, so to keep my health and supply up, I've began eating meat again at least until we're done BFing.

And we've done our first over 24 hours without FF! I did have to give him one bottle this morning of just 2oz cos he was still hungry, but I'm still super proud of myself and my son! Yay! ^^ Also, I've not eaten any milk products and been making myself eat turkey and chicken for a week now. Which probably doesn't seem that long, but it's a big deal for me!

(Btw, this isn't a bash for anyone who's baby is FF. This was just because he has to either BF only or only do soy formula. I'm just happy I set a goal for myself and my son and we did it!)

Great job, mama!! You should be so proud of yourself for being so dedicated!

Good job!! You should be very proud of yourself!

Well done! And extra well done on the eating meat. I've been veggie for 18 years but I do cook meat for the husband and kids. A while ago I was having a wobbly phase with being veggie so I decided to try a piece of chicken. It took me half an hour to get a tiny piece to my lips and then as soon as I put it in my mouth I threw up... I didn't realise it would be so hard! I'm still a veggie

If you are really a veggie at heart, I know there are lots of ladies on here who live veggie and vegan lives without dairy so you could ask for advice on staying healthy without meat or milk :)

I did this with the tiniest piece of steak! It was a very bad experience and I almost gave up, but I somehow managed a piece of turkey and later did the same with chicken. You've been a vegetarian for much longer so I'm sure it's a lot harder for you of course!

And I tried to go vegan at first, but I just can't afford to always stock up on tofu and soy products. I'm not working anymore so we're down to one income. Maybe when I'm done breastfeeding though I will go back to being vegetarian :3 I already miss it to be honest!

Hey Luna,

Just curious as to what made you think your LO had dairy allergies? My LO has been having terrible gas and stomach issues on strictly breast milk and I've been thinking of cutting it out myself.

Aww that's great! Well done you on being so determined to get through the obstacles!

you may want to be careful with soy aswell. a lot of dairy intollerant babies are also intollerant to soy. I have been dairy free for a couple of months and initially cut out soy as well, just tried some soy and she is obv allergic to that too
