I am finally getting around to writing my birth story. I didnt know I was in labor and almost got to the hospital with a baby in hand. ![haha :haha: :haha:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/haha.gif)
November 7th I had gotten up at about 6am to take my mom to an outpatient surgery. When I dropped her off she jokingly said, dont have the baby until you pick me up. I laughed and reminded her she isnt due for a week I wont!![Coffee :coffee: :coffee:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/coffee.gif)
While I was waiting for her nurse to call me to pick her up I ran to the hospital down the street to register for labor and delivery. Then I put gas in the car then headed back for my mom.
After I picked up my mom she said she was hungry, so I took her to get some breakfast. After that, we went back to her house and I ended up falling dead asleep in her bed.
I woke up a few hours later and called my grandma to wish her a happy birthday, she also mentioned that the baby probably wouldn't come on her birthday. I joked around telling her don't be discouraged there were still 12 hours left in the day.
When it was time for me to go home I was still feeling drained and tired, but I drove home and waited for my husband to come home. He got home around 5pm or so and I mentioned to him that my back was starting to hurt and I was tired. He asked if he should go to class, I told him yes, I am just tired. (I had just finished up work that Monday, it was Wednesday.)
He left for class at 7pm, I stayed just watching t.v. I was having the same Braxton hicks I had been having since 20 weeks but my back was hurting like I had been at work all day. I ignored it and went about my night. Husband came home at 9 and mentioned I didnt look so well. I tld him I was fine just tired because I had been up since 6.
I was still having non-consistant, not hurting Braxton hicks, but he insisted I call the midwife and ask her what she thought I should do. I called her and she said to come on over and she would monitor me. I let OH know it was time to go, and he got annoyed saying was this really it, and did we need to waste our time going. (go figure, hes the one who made me call!!!
) I knew I wasnt in labor, so I told OH to take a shower and I would get stuff loaded into the car, and call my mom and let her know I was going to be monitored. She keeps asking if she should meet us there, I told her no that I prob would have to walk around for hours and I would give her a call later.
We get to the hospital at 11:15pm and I have 3 very close contractions that actually kind of hurt, but I kept on walking, talking, and overall everything was normal. When we got to the triage room, they asked me to pee in a cup. (as if they couldnt tell I was pregnant!) Then get on the bed so they could put the monitors on me, and check my cervix.
When the nurse goes to put the monitors on me I am trying to stop her because It was hurting when anyone touched me. Then BAM! Contrations start to hurt a little more and I am gripping the bed begging someone to get me a Tylenol. At some point a nurse puts the base for the IV in my hand, and I notice my pants and undies are gone.![haha :haha: :haha:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/haha.gif)
The nurse checks me and I hear her say Oh yeah, she is 8cm with a bulging bag! Call the midwife!
So I scream at my OH CALL MY MOM!! So he gets on the phone to call her. (she freaks out
I probably should of had her meet us there
)
I ask for a tylenol and everyone says no, there is nothing they can do for pain relief at this time and that they cant even administer an IV. I burst out in tears and have a breakdown.
(I am grateful they were able to say no because I have always wanted a natural birth, but during that pain and shock my first instinct was to ask for something to relieve the pain.) The midwife tells me to look at her, and tells me I can do it, so I stop crying and continue to breathe.
I tell the nurses I feel like pushing and the midwife tells me that if she breaks my water I can push the baby out but if I dont want her to break my water try not to push because the opening of my cervix could swell. I told her I needed to wait for my mom. After 2 more painful contractions, I tell the nurse to have her break my water because I cant take it anymore. Luckily as they do that my mom walks in. (I guess she drove at record speeds because they live kinda far from the hospital)
I start pushing at 11:56, it didnt hurt nearly as bad as I thought it would. I stayed very quiet and didnt scream or yell. I dont know how many times I pushed but at 12:21am on Nov. 8th my little Naomi was born weighing 7lbs 1oz and she was 20.5 inches long with a head full of hair. She barely missed my grandmas birthday!
I didnt have any tearing, just a couple grazes (my god they still hurt!)
It was an amazing labor even though it went so fast! I hope if I have more kids in the future, their labors go as great and as fast as hers!
