I had a miscarriage and d&c 7 weeks ago had my blood tested 3 weeks ago and it was 20 and a few days later it dropped to 17. My doctor approved of putting an IUD in and so I got the copper IUD 1-2 weeks ago. I took a test today because I had bought some for my friend and it was positive. Anyone know how this would happen??

I really need to know how long you can have a positive test after a d and c.. Anyone?

It really depends on the person. If your HCG was 17 3 weeks ago, I would imagine your levels would have dropped enough to not get a positive test. It is possible to get pregnant with an IUD, though not likely. I would test again and then your dr. If you are pregnant again, then the IUD needs to come out. Good Luck.

I'm starting to get cramps that don't seem normal. Doctor told me to wait a week and test again.

I agree, it does depend on the person. Not sure there is a "normal". In my case, I didn't get to negative hcg levels for about 11 weeks after my d&c. Good luck to you!
