Ok so I feel kinda dumb for asking these questions but I just don't understand some of this ovulation stuff. Like how does this temp. charting stuff work? And what is a luteal phase? I've read lots of books but for some reason I just don't quite grasp it. Can someone explain it to me? I'm soooo lost!

The temp charting stuff starts with buying a basal body temperature (basically it's a thermometer that measures 2 decimal points 00.00)- more accurate supposedly when you're trying to figure out your body pattern. You take the temp first thing in the morning (if possible at the same time everyday- at least 3 hours of sleep) before you even get out of bed. There's different ways to take it- orally, or vaginally. I do it vaginally cuz it's more accurate for me that way and you can't control what happens with your mouth over night (like if you sleep with it open or other ways that temp can be affected). I hope I'm making sense.

Luteal phase (I'm still learning this one so people jump in if I'm wrong and correct me)- will change from cycle to cycle. For example, it probably was 12 to 13 LP for me last cycle. This cycle it's gone to 17 LP I think. I'd have to look at my chart. It's pretty much how many days past ovulation (that figures your Luteal phase). If you're at 14 dpo, then you'd have 14 LP. It will vary from cycle to cycle.

Let us know if we can help ya figure out anything else.

Thank you so much!
Ok so when you're charting how d you know when you're ovulating?

Ovulation will occur after 3 high temps (after a dip)... I use opk to help me narrow down the possibilities too so I have the information from my opk and temps. Some ladies will chart down their CM- which also will help you to tell if you're at your most fertile time or not. You can take a peek at my chart for March if you want- you should be able to see it in the link in my siggy.

Wow that looks complicated...lol. Now for another question I should know the answer to by now...
How do you chart you CM? What's it supposed to look like?
I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions. I'm just trying to figure it all out still. Thank you so much for all of your help!

That's one thing I'm still learning at this point. Best I can figure out... some ladies will stick their fingers in near their cervix (but I haven't figured out where mine is)... So I just go by what I see in my underwear when I see any.

•If what you find seems sticky, or findings are scant, you're probably not ovulating yet.
•If what you find is creamy, ovulation may be coming, but not just yet.
•If what you find is wet, watery, and slightly stretchy, ovulation is very likely close. Find time for some baby-making sex.
•If what you find is very wet, stretches between your fingers for an inch or more, and resembles raw egg white, your cervical mucus is very fertile. Ovulation is right around the corner, and now is the ideal time for intercourse.

Just starting my 5th cycle of TTC... I joined BnB in Feb.

You should think about joining the april testers thread, it's a lot of fun over there. I'm out already seeing as to I have AF but I still check in over there to see how many ladies get their :bfp: and what normal random chats they have going on.

If I got my :bfp: this month it would be the best birthday present ever!! My 21st birthday is on the 10th!!!

Just tell Guppy you want to be added to the list and tell her which date you're testing on and if you're hoping for a boy or girl or if you're just wanting to be team yellow (meaning you don't care which one you get). It's a fun thread... Guppy's sink is preggers...

HAHAHA! That is hilarious! So I just message her?? Or I post it in the thread?
You probably think I'm such a ding bat lol

Just leave it in the thread, she'll see it and put it in the list on the first page... Honey, I think we all have our moments for being a ding bat... I know i was one last night... :dohh:

Ok so when you're charting how d you know when you're ovulating?

Unfortunately charting doesn't tell you when you're ovulating. It only lets you know that you have, indeed, ovulated after at least three days of high temps. After ovulation your temps will stay up (some women have a few dips here and there) until AF (period) arrives. Once you've been charting for awhile, you'll hopefully begin to see a pattern to your cycles and will know when to start preparing for OV (getting busy:) )

OPK's (ovulation predictor kits) can help you know when ovulation is approaching. They detect LH in your system, and when your test line is as dark or darker than the control line, that means ovulation is right around the corner.

Sign up for Fertility Friend and when you plug in your info it will chart your graph for you! :flower: Good luck!

Your luteal phase is always the same length, but some months ovulation may be delayed.

Freaky- I disagree- it's not always the same... My LP was shorter last month compared with this month?
