So my 8 week old DD won't settle in her Moses basket until at least 3.30am. Until that point she is either crying/fussing or asleep on me. I can have her asleep on me for an hour or more but as soon as I put her down, she wakes up and starts crying. She will then either re-settle on me or cry in what seems discomfort until her next feed.

She has silent reflux but I'm finding it really difficult to tell whether the reflux is causing this or whether this is just how she is. The thing is she will settle in her Moses basket after 3.30 and will then go a good 4 or 5 hours. She will also go in her basket after her early morning feed. So if it is the reflux causing our night time difficulties, why would she ok with going in her basket at some points but not others?! We have her Moses basket elevated so it's not as if she's laying flat.

I was thinking maybe she is a baby that just wants to be held but again wouldn't the Moses basket resistance be all the time rather than some of it?

The only other explanation is that maybe she has her night and day mixed up but last night she was asleep on either me or OH from about 8pm until 2.20am when she had her feed and then settled at 3.40am. I tried putting her in her basket about 1am but she pinged awake and cried until I re-settled her on me. So she was more or less asleep the entire night anyway!

I'm just so confused about what is going on with her.

Have you tried a baby swing? My wee one is 3 and a half months and she needs "mummy snugs" to go to sleep. We also have a swinging crib which she sleeps in fine.

At your wee ones age she was similar to what you are describing, she slept from 2am to 11am. She now goes 11-11 every night.

We give her the last bottle about 10pm, after a nappy change, then she goes in her swing for 10 minutes, then onto me for snugs then when she is almost asleep we put her in the swinging crib and gently rock it for a few minutes.

Maybe she is just so tired at 330 that she gives in? I would try the swing as well, it's elevated and the motion might help. My lo like my chest as well. Between the warmth and hearing me, itS probably comforting to them!

I had this problem last night. He is eager to sleep when I hold him (provided I allow him to snack himself to sleep or all hell breaks loose), but as soon as I put him down he would wake back up and cry until I let him snack himself back to sleep. And he would sleep as long as I would hold him.

I have found that I have good nights and bad nights. Night before last was a good night and he slept, ate every 3.5 hours, and went right back to sleep in his own cot all night long without a fuss. And last night I fought with him as described above from 1:50 until 6 this morning. It has been like that for a few weeks. One good night, one bad night. Very hit and miss. Mine has reflux as well and takes medicine, but I don't think it is the reflux that is bothering him.

Let me know if you figure something out because I'm in the same boat! Good luck!!!
