Can someone please explain how this temp charting thing works I have no idea what any of it means or if I'm even doing it right. All advice is welcomed.

First you need a basal thermometer. You can download a chart for free anywhere or I use FF. You can take it orally or if you're brave vaginally. Either way it must be consistent the entire cycle. Set your alarm and take it the same time every day. Take it before you eat, drink, talk, use bathroom. You must use minimal movement to take it. So I recommend putting it on your night stand or if you don't have a night stand place it under your pillow. Record your temp as soon as you get a reading. If something happens and you take your temp at a different time still record it and make a note. Since this is your first time temping I would start temping on cd 1 or if that's already past I would start temping ASAP. It's normal for your temp to fluctuate. Once you ovulate you will have a noticeable dip followed by a noticeable rise the very next day and if your temp remains elevated for 3 days in a row then ovulation is confirmed. If needed I can show you my chart from last cycle so you can see a confirmed ovulation dip and rise. Temping will also show how long your luteal phase should be too. I hope my advice has helped you. I've told you all I know. If I've left something off or if I wasn't clear and you have questions feel free to PM me :)

I jumped on board to see the answers because I am new to temping and I find it draining and confusing to be honest

I know for sure I ovulate because I use OPK (I feel the pinch and have Ewcm) and the line gets darker after the surge but there just isnt a considerable dip or rise for me (Im wondering if I should be worried now? lol) Maybe its because I do not set an alarm and just do it from when I wake?

Anyway sorry for butting in :) Goodluck!

As long as there's a .5 degree(sometimes less) rise and the next 3 temps are higher than your pre ovulation/during and after AF then FF should confirm Ovulation. For example the day I ovulated last cycle my temp was 97.7 then the next day I got a spike at 98.1 and the next 3 temps hovered around 98.1 and higher until AF showed again and it dropped to 97.2 which is where it was before ovulation. The reason I recommended setting an alarm is because if you get up at different times. It's best to take it as close to possible to the same time every day(within 30-45 mins either way). Several ladies on here set their alarm, take their temp, and go back to sleep. I hope I have cleared up confusion.

So my cycles are ridiculously long. I'm still not all the way regulated after getting off depo even though it's been like eight months long but what can I do. Anyway I've been doing the temperatures consistently every day at the same time for a week now accept for the first two days and I have been chartung them using fertility friend. But my chart seriously is all over the place. It looks like the Rocky Mountains high low high low. Nothing is consistent. Idk what I'm doing wrong or if I'm doing wrong because I am still new to it. But it's frustrating If I attach a copy of the chart so far so you think you could help me figure it out

The inconsistency sounds normal. Once your cycles regulate you'll see a more clear pattern.

Awesome that's good To know. Thank you so much for your help

You won't necessarily see a dip at ovulation. I never have. BBT is great for confirming O, but you can only confirm it AFTER it has happened. You will have to do other methods (opks, checking cm etc.) to tell if O is coming, since the best time to BD is before O. If you wait for a temp rise, you could miss the opportunity. That being said, BBT charting was still really helpful for me to see an overview of my cycle. I temp vaginally, it is way more consistent than when I temped orally. And I just use the regular thermometer I have, not s special BBT thermometer, and O has been easily identified every month.

So now I have a question for you ladies. According to the bbt chart I ovulated on the 19th. But I'm still having cramps and as far as I can tell my cp is still high and soft. Could I have possibly done something wrong?
