I had a Obgyn appointment this morning for the first time in years. (I finally got insurance.) I specifically went to a OBGYN that is supposed to deal with infertility a lot because my hubby and I have been trying for nearly 3 years and I suspected that I have PCOS. I am severely overweight, and I have been eating a 1200 calorie a day diet and exercising for 2 months with no weight loss. The doctor did a trans-vaginal ultrasound and did some blood work. He has confirmed that I have pcos and I saw many cysts on both ovaries.
I asked the doctor what my next step was and he said weight-loss, I explained that I have been tracking my calories and everything and he said the only thing he could do is prescribe me birth control! Wth? I asked about Metformin and he said there is no evidence to support that it actually helps with PCOS.
Now I just feel so broken and confused, I don't want to take birth control. I already track my cycles and BBT so I know that I'm not ovulating. Any advice would be much appreciated.
