Hi I had my first scan yesterday I thought I was 15 wks but was in fact 16+3! The sonographer made a guess at gender. I was sort of hoping for a girl but it's a boy. I'm happy because I think my DS would prefer a brother :P but I'm wondering now if he was correct I'm just not convinced. The boy parts looked nothing like my little boy, not as obvious and I found it hard to tell whereas with my son I could tell before I was even told. They will check again on my 20 wk scan in 3 weeks and I've read a few people being told boy at 16 weeks and girl at 20 weeks. I know you ladies didn't see the scan but what do you think? I can upload scan photo but don't think there's any clues. Thanks x

I was told boy at 15w1d and it was a boy. I did see something at the 15w scan but it didn't scream penis but also didn't look like girl parts either. The tech said she was 80% sure boy.

I think it's more likely to be told a girl at that early it turns out to be a boy, this happened to my friend. My boys were very clearly boys at 16 and 20 weeks. I'm having a girl this time and at 16 weeks they said they were 70% sure as they based it on not seeing boy parts rather than seeing girl parts.

I think gender guesses are supposed to be reasonably accurate at 16 weeks. There's always room for error, though. Did the tech sound confident, or like he knew he was just guessing?

I was told at my 16 wk scan that if they made a mistake, it would be to call it a girl and then it turns into a boy, not as likely the other way around. I was told 80% girl at 16 weeks, then "we cant say 100% but its about as 99.99% as it gets" that its a girl, lol.

I was told around 16 weeks that it was a boy. Absolutely a girl at 20 week ultrasound. My doctor even gave us another scan two weeks later just to double check. Had another at 28 weeks and she's without a doubt a girl. It's still a little early to make definite calls at 16 weeks. Good luck!

Was told a boy at 16 weeks, and still a boy when I had my 20,26,27 and 32 weeks scans lol.
It's unlikely they have got it wrong, but not impossible.

See? And then everything my OB told me about gender guessing at 16 weeks goes flying out the window. :haha:

I'm looking forward to an update! We had a scan Sunday and were told boy. I'm treating it as fact (the tech seemed very confident and showed us what she was looking at) but I'm not going out and buying blue everything til I have confirmation at my 20 week scan next month.

I have my scan tomorrow so will be back here to update then! X

Just to update I've had my scan today.

& baby is a boy :) I think my lb would be pleased ;) haha.

X
