Thurday when i checked my wound i noticed i had two very very small holes and i could see red flesh, it freaked me out as i never had this with my 1st section and i called my midwife. She came and sent me to maternity triage doctor said it was normal but they gave me antibitoics to clear up the infection. I have just checked my wound again and i have an even bigger hole id say about 1cm long in a different area of wound, im so upset, what the hells going on! Never had any trouble at all with my 1st, tried contacting my midwife but her fones off. So i called nhs direct 2 hours ago and im still waiting for a call back. Anyone experienced anything like this?

After my 1st c-section, I had a hole in the middle that wasn't healing. I went to the Dr. & found out I had a blood clot in the incision. She used a q-tip to clear the clot & the hole closed 3 days later.

I hope you get it checked out again soon!

i had 2infections in mine, my 2nd c-sec took ages to heal properly :(

Yeah, 8cm of my incision is still gaping open and not healing. I had a wound swab and it showed staph so I have had a number of courses of antibiotics but still not healed. I was supposed to go back to the dr a month ago to have a biopsy but still haven't been back. I have an appointment this week though, 9.5 months of having an open wound is getting beyond ridiculous now and I'm fed up with not being able to exercise how I want to loose the baby weight.

omg thats awful 9months! i feel for you i have two holes in total one 3cm other one 2cm. I have a nurse that comes everyday now (since sunday) to clean and cover the wound and its improving alot. Fingers crossed it heals for us both. Do u cover it up yourself? does it not effect your daily routines? Ive been told not to have a soak in bath and a number of other things, oh and not to dtd until its healed either. What does your doc say about it not healing?

I am sure my posting is not necessary but 'just in case' please don't touch your wounds and make sure any health professionals wash hands properly and/or wear gloves when touching your wound and surrounding area!

Luckily I work for the NHS and when I was in having my 2nd c-section a nurse actually went to examine my wound straight after removing my catheter and then changing my sheet. I had to actually ask her to wash her hands first!

Secondly, if you have been given antibiotics do not forget any of them and always finish the course - failure to do so is one of the main causes of superbugs.

Good luck - I hope you all have success with your wounds healing.

Hi I had problems with my c-section scar healing after I had my daughter in Aug 11. I went to my GP and they took swabs as I had already had one taken when I had my stitches out and it was still showing infection. The dr and nurse told me to put vaseline on it and let the air get to it too....WRONG ADVICE! when I went to my postnatal at the hospital the Gynaecologist and a nurse who specialised in wound management...were absolutely appalled by the fact my GP had left me like that for weeks with no follow up and gaping holes in my wound.

The way I had to treat it was with an inadine dressing rolled up from corner to corner and placed along the length of the wound and a long mepore dressing over the top to hold it in place, Told to leave the first one on for 24 hours...and omg the holes were practically healed over within a couple of days. You can buy inadine and mepore at boots the chemist for pence each.

How is your wound going?
I do my dressings myself, but I'm a nurse. My GP was happy for me to do the dressings, otherwise I would have got a district nurse to come out. I would rather do it anyway even though I hate looking at it. I have had a few surgeries on my abdomen, so I have some numb spots on my tummy, and the wound is at a numb spot, so I don't notice it too much. It is starting to heal though finally!! I can start exercising next week :happydance:

Myn are now more or less healed them large splits are now size of a pin prick really small. My nurse still comes out to me once in 2 days and im now cleaning and dressing it myself the days she doesnt come. I dnt know if its safe for me to drive. what do you guys think? im 4 weeks post section now.
