Hi ladies last week at my scan my fluid level was high normal at 23cm. Over the last few days I've put 6lb on and my bump feels like its gonna burst so I went to maternity today and they measured fundal height which was 33.5 so normal and an NST was normal. They arranged a scan and my fluids gone up to 31.1cm so I've officially got polyhydramnios now. They're doing another scan next fri but said a consultant will need to do a detailed scan which is apparently routine protocol in ladies with this condition at my hospital but this cant be done for 3 weeks. Fair to say I'm absolutely shitting myself now :( I feel so uncomfortable and have this constant feeling of terror that something's seriously wrong and I'm gonna lose another baby. The nurseries all done and all his clothes are hung up waiting for him but now I have 3 weeks to find out if there's something wrong with him :'(. I'm past myself with worry. They said they would have kept me in if babys head wasn't in the pelvis but it starting to go down even tho yesterday at my routine me appt she said babys head can be moved freely and is definately not in the pelvis even one bit.

Has anyone else had fluid levels this high? Im so worried

Try not to worry and please don't google!! I had the same thing and worried myself sick for awhile :( I had 3 different scans that showed high fluid and then my last scan 2 days ago the fluid went down to normal range! The doctor is not sure what the baby was doing but she thinks things are fine. I'm trusting that everything is ok...
Have you been checked for GD? I know that can cause it.
I know it's hard, but try not to worry...from what I read bigger babies just drink/pee a lot more causing the excess fluid and the majority of these cases everything turns out fine. Good luck Hun...try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy! :hugs:

thanks tiger yeh ive been tested for GD twice but they were negative. Glad that your scans have gone back to normal you must be so relieved. Did you feel the effects of the extra fluid, i feel close to bursting but im measuring normal i dont get it x

I actually never felt like that and even measured a few weeks behind in fundal height...so I was really surprised to have extra fluid... Baby is measuring in the 42 percentile so it's not like I have a huge baby in there. I'm not sure what was going on :/ hang in there and try to do some relaxing things for yourself :)

I had this condition in my first pregnancy. The consultant I saw told me that I was having a fairly large baby and that big babies wee and drink more, so fluid levels are high. I made the mistake of googling which scared me but I needn't have worried as my little girl was born with no problems whatsoever. I felt huge, like I was about to burst too. The only a thing I was told, was that I had to be very careful if my waters broke as they may take the cord with them, so I was told to call an ambulance if that happened. (it didn't happen, I was induced). Try not to worry xxx

I don't have the same thing, but I have very high calcium levels in my blood which is very uncommon and the DR's aren't sure what the implicatiosn will be.

I can relate to how you feel as they asked me to wait until 21 May to see the consultant, I made such a fuss they moved it to 30 April, then I googled, almost had a nervous break down and they have moved it to this Tuesday after my GP made more of a fuss.

Its so cruel to make you wait 3 weeks, do they not know what anxiety we go through. I was crying everyday not sleeping, feeling down, nothing bad has happened yet, but its the not knowing and waiting and having to trust in them thats so hard.

If you really feel like you can't wait, go to your GP and explain your fears or phone PALS.

I am being sick daily and they were going to leave me till 21 May when I am due 3 June, I felt this was not right, you can't be sick whilst pregnant and not be taking in any nutrients, but NHS is over stretched.. :-( considering you've already lost one baby I think its very wrong to leave you in a state of worry like this, I don't think its good enough.

I would not google either, I almost tipped myself over the edge whe I did.

Try and stay positive at least the babys big and you are 34 weeks, you're almost there and low birth weight is more dangerous.

Good luck and Hugs, I know how scared you must feel, let us know how you get on xx

hello sophe so sorry you are in a similar situation its horrible isnt it. Cant believe they were gonna leave you worrying until may thats just plain nasty. I know the nhs is overstretched but thats just ridiculous. Stay away from google ..... I wish i had!! I makes things worse and its always the worst case scenario info that will stay in our minds. Ive never heard of raised calcium in pregnancy but im sure if your consultant was really worried he/she would be investigating urgently. Glad they brought your appt forward tho :) i was so worried yesterday i presented myself to hospital and said something needs to be done. They monitored baby, done some special blood tests, im having a repeat diabetes test today and theyre trying to bring my scan appt forward. Consultant came to see me and said shes not overly concerned and said if there was a serious abnormality with bubs it would have showed up on scan the other day. She said his stomach, kidneys and bladder have been seen which is good she said but i still wont stop worrying until ive had this special scan and had my blood results back. Hope you are feeling a bit better today. Plz keep me posted xx

Update ladies, ive been for another scan and baby is measuring 6lb 6oz and his stomach, kidneys and bladder were seen but my fluid had gone from 31cm to 34cm. They are seeing me again next fri for a detailed scan by the consultant and if the fluid increases anymore they will deliver the baby. Ive been panicking about conditions like downs after googling but the doctor said that as baby is growing well he isnt overly concerned about "syndromes". Weird to think my baby might be here next week or week after!

Glad they have taken some action, yes must be weird thinking the baby will be here soon. Bad though that at one point they were not going to see you for a few weeks and now they are saying they want to deliver you in a few weeks!! this is why I don't have confiedence in them, they seem to say and do what suits them at the time. I may need to be induced early, not keen but if its for the best I'll do it.

I got seen on Tuesday and they explained what the risks are of high calcium but said they can deal with them if it does happen.

I need growth scans ad monitoring, so it was a total mistake on their part to ask me to wait until the end of May, they appologised, but it goes to show you need to fight to be heard with the NHS, maybe there is no issue there, but so what, better to be safe than sorry, we should all make a fuss if we feel we need more help!

Good luck with everything, i hope it all goes smoothly from now on. xx

Hey just wanted to let you ladies know that I had polyhydramnios and gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby girl last Friday! So I worried for nothing!
