I hit her head :(

My baby is almost 3 weeks old
I was holding her and reaching for her bottle and i bumped her head
it missed her soft spot and let a little red raised mark on her head
she was already crying a little bit because she was hungry
she didnt seem like she cried harder or anything
im just really feeling guilty and worried about concussion or brain damage
i know that sounds silly but as a first time mom i cant help but play out every possibility in my head
After i fed her she went to sleep
should i wake her up?
do you think she is ok??

Im sure she is fine, they are alot tougher than we think. i would give nhs direct a call just to put your mind ease.

Hey love, I'm sure she is ok, but if you are worried then take her to see the doctor even if it's just to put your mind at rest xx

I doubt there's a mum out there who hasn't knocked her baby by mistake at some point! I'm sure she's fine, just keep an eye on her and if anything doesn't seem right take her to the doctors or call NHS direct.

I mirror the other replies, its so hard when your mind goes into overdrive and all the thoughts go through your mind I think if it hurt her she would have screamed more iykwim? its so easily done, I was walking downstairs with my 14 month old and somehow bumped her head on the wall and she didnt even flinch, the sound is usually worse than the impact, but of course if youre really worried theres no harm taking her to be checked out even if its more for you than her x

Ah I'm sure she'll be ok..

When indie was 5 days old I dropped my mobile on her head.... Twice... In the space of an hour. I felt awful for ages, but it happens. My oh said to me.... 'she had forceps clamped round her head and was pulled out like that, a little bump is going to seem like a bunch of roses in comparison'

I think i am just going to keep an eye on her for a couple hours and if something seems out of the ordinary i will bring her in right away!

i punched william in the nose when i went to lift my top up to feed him! he screamed like id broken it! he was fine though so i wouldnt worry unless she starts to seem unwell

im sure shes fine xxx
