Hey ladies,
So I called the DR today because DH is going to get a fertility work-up in 8 Aug and they wanted to have a semen analysis done with results in hand when we go in BUT I go something totally unexpected. I had my blood work done and they are now saying that I came out with Abnormal Thyroid and Prolactin results. They really didn't tell me much more as it was via phone but they are sending me to a specialist due to these abnormalities. Do you ladies have any information or have you been through any of these tests? I guess I am wondering if this is why TTC have been over 2 years with no luck. I have read online that it could hinder conception, yet the nurse did state this abnormalities would not effect me becoming pregnant; so CONFUSED. So I will come to real woman with possibly the same issues or know someone that can help me understand what is going on or maybe some good news or the bad.

Thank you for reading, and BabyDust to you all!!!

I saw a specialist for having hypothyroidism to diagnose whether it was due to autoimmune or from illness, maybe they just want to diagnose you too.

Thanks for reading! What was your first appointment like and did they discuss any fertility issues with you or the possibilities?

Again, Thank you!!! BabyDust to you!

It was very straight forward for me, he asked for family history then noticed I had vitiligo (lack of skin pigment) and deduced from that that it was auto-immune. This was a long time ago tho, 17 years, and I was already pregnant at age 23 so it obviously didn't affect it back then.

I hope that's in some way reassuring as I think thyroid issues affecting fertility ate often exaggerated and causes stress when it doesn't need to.

All the best xxx

Two of my day 21 blood works came back with abnormal high levels of prolactin, the doctor said that there are two main things that can cause this

1) A growth on the pituitary gland in the brain, these are harmless and medication can be prescribed to deal with them. (I was terrified when he first mentioned it!)
2) Stress.

I work as a teacher, and I can definitely say I was stressed! They arranged a third blood test for me to keep and eye on this and if it came back high again they would send me for an MRI. Funnily enough I arranged my blood test during the school holidays, when I had had 10 days off work, and ta da! Prolactin levels went straight back down to normal

We did get a :bfp: last year, which sadly ended in miscarriage, but was again, during the summer holidays when I was away from work. So I quit my job, moved closer to friends and family to get rid of stress!

Obviously I can only tell you my experience with high prolactin and it could be something completely different if linked with the thyroid levels

Good luck :flower:
