I know I complain a lot

about the MIL but really I emailed her last Saturday thanking her for coming to Stan's party and for picking up the cake. I also gave her a blanket invitation saying we were free for the next three weekends and she was welcome to come visit (Saturday or Sunday). And that we were going to dye Easter eggs with Hannah if they wanted to bring Melody over to dye eggs too......and that I was open to any day that weekend because hey it's not like Hannah will be hunting the eggs. Never heard a word. Stan called today (I make him call his parents weekly ) and asked her "So when are you going to visit". She said oh well we're busy for the next several weeks. Okay well why couldn't she have emailed me and simply said that instead of ignoring my email And what right does she have to complain that Hannah doesn't know her! It's not my bloody fault that Hannah's grandmother in Texas has spent more time with her (when we went down in December) than her grandmother who lives 30 minutes away has

i know exactly how u feel, pauls mam is like this too, she does my head in, whinging that we dont take leyla to see her when she has a car and it is much easier for her to come to us than for us to drag leyla on two buses!!

We don't have a car either and I downright refuse to put Hannah on a bus that goes down an expressway

She has no right to complain! There is no way that you should be the ones to schlep to see her. She needs to come to you or stop her complaining, simple as that.

I get the same from my MIL! She's always making comments like "Erin doesn't know who I am..." - but she lives 10 minutes away. She never comes up because apparently grandma's aren't supposed to go visiting, the grandchildren are meant to come and see her.

Other than giving birth to your OH, the sole purpose of MILs is to get on our nerves and give us something to moan about!

to be fair to her she does have a 6 year old daughter who is in school and involved in activities etc.....but she can't complain about Hannah not knowing her if she won't ever visit
