If there is anyone out there with PCOS taking metformin and or clomid ..I need someone who understands what im goin thru ..talk about any other options maybe .. feeling frustrated and overwhelmed since nobody in my lige has had to go thru it :(

I have PCOS - been on both metformin and clomid in the past as well...

Hi jillie r u currently going thru any other treatments ..I just feel so by myself and I just recently had surgery to have my gal bladder removed so I have taken it easy on the whole ttc thing but ..its just been crazzy I didnt get AF at all in oct just a few random days of light spottibg not in a row tho like 1 or 2 days one week then the next week ..and usually being on metformin my period has been more regular

Oh wow... I had my gall bladder removed early last year after I lost over 40kgs since 2009 after a gastric sleeve operation. I went from 108kg down to a healthy 67kg.

I went off BC November last year. Had irregular cycles. Finally got a dr to listen to me and send me for tests. Diagnosed PCOS mid this year. I was put on metformin straight up and provera to regulate my cycles to see if my body would ov by itself. It didn't. I was so sick on the metformin it was starting to affect my work so OBGYN took me off it.

I was then put on clomid for 3 cycles, 50mg, 150mg and 200mg - all never made me ovulate (and never had side effects). I had ovarian drilling, HsG test done to check my patency, as well as my uterine lining scraped all done together early October.

Saw my OBGYN last week for a follow up consult and as my period started by itself after 50 days (it never did when on the clomid - I needed provera every time), he said to get bloods on CD23 (next Friday) to check if the drilling has had a positive effect on me. If no ov this time around, then I will be put back on more fertility drugs. Currently on CD14 today.

Did the metformin help u to regulate ur period at all r were u not on it long enough ..it would make me sick for a few weeks but once my body adjusted I was fine ..ask ur doc to srart u on the lowest dose or try the exrended release kind it may help ..may I ask ur age or where u r from?

I started on a low dosage - but never got up any higher. I was on it for 2 months getting sicker and sicker. I tried taking it with food, without food, different times of the day, only once a day - all possible combos. As soon as I stopped taking it, I was so much better and could function properly again not having to run to the toilet all the time. It never helped with my cycles/periods.

I am 23 from QLD, Australia :) DH is 24. 18 months older than me.

That stinks that it made u soo sick ..it was working for me regulating my periods but when I had my surgery in aug I had to stop taking it for 2 weeks because of the other meds I was taking ..I dunno whats goin on tho I dont think I could be pregnant because I dont think I ever ovulated last month if I never got a real period but im going to to wait it out until the end of the week. What is this drilling thing ..is it to get rid of the cysts? My doc hasnt really talked about trying to remove them because she said they will most likely come back ..I am 25 DH 27 and I live in the U.S. in illinois ..its almost 4 am here ..cant sleep lol

I cannot remember the last time I ovulated... really hope it is soon though. I am trying to chart my BBT. The drilling is to help mainly to lower testosterone levels my body produces because of the PCOS.

Here are some good info sites about it for you if you want to have a read. :)

I am talking to another lady in the US at the moment. We have regular chats on facebook - its really good. Means we have some support going through similar things even though we are on the other side of the world.

I am just about to head to bed. 9.30pm here at the moment.

The clomid worked for me at 150 mg I did ovulate but I didnt get prego now my insurance doesnt cover it anymore and its pretty expensive ..so I have been able to get it this year at all.. I need to get back to my ob and talk about other options ..

For 10X50mg tablets here it is about $30.

I am going to ask about Femara/Letrezole with my obgyn, see if that is an option if I have to go back on fertility drugs after this cycle... I don't want to waste my time on clomid again.

Hi Ladies! Mind if I join in?

I have been on Clomid since Christmas Day last year. 100mg every time. Two pregnancies, as you can see from my signature. We finally broke down and had our first IUI in September. It worked! But unfortunately wasn't sticky. So now we are waiting on the results of #2. Currently I am a few days late, but getting BFNs. I am pretty sure it did not work.

Do you get an hCG trigger with your clomid? They have me do that every time, and I have since figured out that I am actually ovulating later than the 36 hour bracket for the trigger.

We are at 29 month TTC#1. It is SO frustrating! Especially when everyone around us is getting lucky. Do you ever have the feeling when someone close to you announces their pregnancy and you automatically get angry? I hate that.

I hope the best for you guys! Lots of sticky vibes!

:dust::dust::dust:

Hi chartay ..sorry for your losses I never knew i had PCOS until I had my mc at 19 weeks ..it is very heartbreaking and very tough when everyone u know is getting prego and not even trying ..i get the same feeling ..I never got a trigger shot b4 I am looking for feedback on what my next step should b to talk to my doc

Hi Stacey,

I have PCOS and am on 1500mg metformin. I've already been through clomid, with zero success. I was not able to ovulate with metformin alone either. However, I have switched to femara and an HCG shot this month and had 2 viable eggs for ovulation.

I want to be put on Femara next... will have to wait and see if OBGYN will let me...
