Hi all

My little one, Toby, is nearly 14-weeks and weighs 13lbs 1ozs. He has been sleeping through since 12th July - ingrained on my mind as it was so wonderful!!! :happydance:

He normally goes down between 7pm and 8pm and wakes around 6am for a feed. He often grizzles around 3-5am but we think that's 'cos his body was used to waking then for his "night" feed.

For the last 4 mornings he's grizzled at 5am to the point where he is crying in his sleep, but he is def. not awake - we have picked him up to settle him and he's stayed fast asleep.

Last night something new happened and he decided to wake up screaming at 11pm! I thought he might be cold but we re-covered him and tried to settle him but he would go back to sleep. So we offered him a bottle and he took 3ozs with gusto! He eventually settled again (it was midnight now) and slept until 7am where he took 7ozs.

On average he's been having 28-30ozs per day but yesterday it was 33ozs after the late late late feed!

So we think he needs more now and its perhaps why he's un-settled in the mornings. But he'll feed until he's full / had enough so how can we get him to take more?

We offer him 7ozs at every feed and he's using Dr Brown's bottles, teat size 3. They are quite fast flowing so I don't think he needs a different teat. He's finishing the bottles fairly fast and dribbling so if anything, they might still be a touch too fast. His wind is better now he's using Dr Brown's bottles, so I don't think his tummy is full from wind.

Just have no idea how we can encourage him to take more during the day!

We have never dream-fed him, he's never taken to it or been interested in it.

He goes roughly 3hrs between feeds but sometimes as little as 2.5hrs or as long as 4hrs.

Help!

I don't mind feeding my LO when he needs it even if its a night feed, but I think he can sleep through and I'd like to try and help him continue doing so.

Thanks in advance xxxxxxxxxxx

Do you think he'd have 1 extra oz in his bedtime feed? I know its only 1 oz but it might make the difference. And its not like youl have loads extra in there and be trying to keep him awake. Tricky one that..

Maybe he just wanted to suck when he woke at 11pm - 3oz isn't very much to take? Ruby has slept thru since she was 6 wks but has woken at 5 a couple of time, I've just given her a dummy and she's gone back to sleep.
I think feed him every 3 hours, (or 2.5 if he really needs it then) then you'll fit more feeds into the day. I feed Ruby every 3 hours. I never allow her to get to stage where she's crying for it and she always takes a good 6-8oz.
