Here is the thing, I have been on reclipsen bc for the last 3 months because my RE wanted me on it until we start treatments again... I have been taking 2000mg of extended release metformin for the last month (I should have been taking it all along but I wasn't). I lost 13lbs by watching my carb and calorie intake. this took maybe a month to do.

You can see in my sig that nothing has really helped me and after stimming for 13 days on menopur the cycle was canceled with two 8mm follicles.

I read that with PCOS my best chances for ovulating on my own was right after coming off bc.
I also read that when taking soy like clomid half of the dose of soy is equal to a dose of clomid, like taking 300mg of soy is equal to 150mg of clomid.

So here is my problem

After losing 13lbs, being on metformin for over a month, and stopping bc after being on it for 3 months, I decided to give this cycle my all... So I took 600mg of soy or what I gather to be equal to 300mg of clomid.... Now I am a little worried as I am not sure what this will do to me, I realize it was really stupid and I think I will cut the dose in half the next 4 days... Can someone offer any advise? Do you think I have a chance this cycle of at least ovulating? Please help.

300mg of clomid is higher than I have heard being prescribed so Im going to say you might end up over stimming on the 600mg of soy. You might be ok and find you ov normally but perhaps it might be best to get an ultrasound? Just come clean to the doctor about taking the soy and check the ammount of follies you have? Hey, if there's a good one (or even 2) then this could be your month xx

Am I being a dits her? I don't know what soy is? I imagine its a herbal thing?

Xx

I've taken almost 400mg before. I didn't ovulate though. Some girls told me that anything over 200mg doesn't work for some reason. (I told them how much I'd taken after I finished my 5 days of soy.)

Thank you ladies for your replies, I don't think I am going to tell my doc about this unless I get symptoms of hyperstimming she has already told me she doesn't want me doing herbal treatments. I did cut down the dose and now I am taking 400mg a day= to 200mg of clomid. I am not holding my breath that it will work but my fingers are crossed. It is worth a try for the $4 i paid for the bottle of soy. If this doesn't make me ovulate though I am afraid that I am going to have to face the fact that lots of injectables are the only thing that is going to help me and I really can't afford $5000 a month, we might be able to do that once a year because I am a slow responder it is going to cost us that much. so wish me luck April marks 3 years for us and I need a miracle.

I hope that it works for you! Good luck! :flower:

Hi Hun, I am sorry about your predicament, I am sure we have all done something similar in one way or another on the hellish road of LTTTC.

As for Soy I a very anti it. I have read many a story where it has caused people to stop ovulating and then taken months for it to get out of the system. Not only does it cause havoc with LH it can also affect your bodies other hormones in a very erratic way. Although I am a believer in herbal supplements I would never attempt anything too radical without out the help and guidance of someone that has assesed me and is schooled in homoeopathy etc.

I really hope it works out ok for you :flower:

From what I understand, you just took 600 mg one day, so, I think you are probably alright as long as you cut back to a normal dose from here on out.

Also though, I can say from my own personal experience that soy does seem to have an effect on my cycle, but it seems to make me ovulate a week later than normal, which I don't think is the best. My FS is not sure if I have pcos or not. You may want to rethink soy altogether, or at least see what it really does to your body (at normal levels) and then make up your mind.
