I think I found the cause.

Hey,
I haven't been around for a while and thought I'd drop by!
I've been TTC for over 18 months now.
I recently had a blood work done at the doctors and found my ferritin (iron) was extremely low. It's supposed to be between 90 - 500 according to my doctor for a female, but currently mine is 12. Apparently, having iron levels that low could cause trouble with conceiving.

Has anyone else having trouble with their ferritin levels?

If you experience any of the symptoms of low iron, please get it checked out! Most doctors will only test your HB level and the amount of iron in your blood, which can come back normal EVEN with an extremely low ferritin level. My HB and iron levels came back normal, but my ferritin levels are only 12.

My ferritin level is 4 so I hear ya! I've been ttc for 3 months now. Have been taking ferrous fumurate 300mg once a day and a prenatal for 4 months. Havent had my ferritin retested yet, mostly because there really isnt anything they would change in what Im taking. Hoping to get a BFP then get all my bloodwork done at once.

And ive had low iron levels in the past that have been fixed after a year of supplements and trying to eat iron rich foods

My GP tested for ferritin levels too (even though I had a normal haemoglobin count) and said mine were low- my level was 38 and she said they like to see it above 50 for TTC. I've had a lot of issues with ovulation- I also had high testosterone and LH, so my Dr thinks I might have PCOS along with iron issues, so I'm on iron pills as well as Metformin. I'm not sure when I'll have my levels tested again- probably in July which is when my Dr thinks she can refer me to the fertility clinic.
