A little bit about me - I'm Jen, I'm 25 and my husband (also 25) and myself have been ttc with no luck since January of this year. We are only in our 7th cycle but of those I have ovulated just once. My cycles have ranged from 24 to 47 days long, and the one time I did ovulate it was on cd33.

I am charting my temps, and I was using OPKs but I have since changed to the CBFM because reading lines was driving me insane! I am taking a pregnacare vitamin, EPO and have tried Agnus Castus but that seemed to make things worse if anything. For next cycle I have soy isoflavones to try.

I'm starting to get very depressed with the main boards - so many of the people I have become friends with are now in their first, second or third trimester. The constant excitement of positive OPKs, symptom spotting, analysing charts and possible bfps is wearing me down because I can't join in with any of it.

I have been to my doctor and that was pretty unhelpful - the advice being just keep trying, it hasn't been a year yet. Well yes, that is tru, but without releaseing an egg there is 0% chance each month and that is so upsetting. I have had my bloods done - all normal, apart from the day 21 bloods which showed low progesterone, because I hadn't ovulated. I have just had these repeated, because it seemed they wanted more evidence.

:dust: for everyone

Go to another doctor, until you find one you are happy with. I know it´s hard if you have trouble ov, but you are only 25, keep trying but don´t panic yet, you are very young. I´m 35!

Hey Mrs N and welcome.. :)
I would defo go back for a few more day 21 blood tests, and if none of these show signs of ovulation asked to be referred to a gyno.. (thats what i did at my doctors)

He said after a few day 21 tests which show no ovulation the only thing he can do is refer me as he cant do any more investigations..

You may be 25 but I really understand how u are feeling.. I am 27 and on cycle 10 and no idea if i ovulate or not, assuming i dont!!

The whole process of being referred takes months so i would defo chase up with your doctor and say if you do another day 21 test and shows no ovulation u would like to be referred..
Good luck huni, any quesitons i am here if u need me!

Hi Mrs N. I feel your pain about your doctor. I was 23 when i first went to my dr and asked for help. At this point we had been trying for 1 and a half years but the dr still told me to just try more as i was still young (dh is 6 years older than me). I'm now 24 (coming up 25 in Nov, Ahh!) and have thankfully been to see a fertility speacialist last May and thank god i did as it turned out that I had PCOS and wasn't ovulating properly with long irregular cycles. Sorry I don't want to worry you.

You say you have had some blood tests, which ones?

When you've used opk's have you gotten positive results? I've looked at your chart and it looks as though ov only happened on you cycle in April. Do you get a peak on the CBFM?

Sorry for all the questions but it just helps when looking at the bigger picture, I hope you don't mind.

I have had testosterone, oestradiol, fsh, lh, thyroid fuction, full blood count - all normal, and the day 21 progesterone, which was very low last time (no ovulation) and I had repeated yesterday (predicting low again!) - trying to get the tming of that one right so it's 7 days before af arrives!
the docs do not think it is PCOS (this is something I was worried about), because my cycles are not that long and my testosterone was normal.
yes the only ovulatory cycle was the one in april. That time I had a super super dark OPK. The rest of the time I have had plenty of almost positive OPKs, but never one thats proeprly dark like that one was. I also tend to get patches of EWCM, and my cervix goes up and down. This is my first cycle using the CBFM - I had 2 lows, went to high on day 8 and stayed at high for 17 days, then low, then it stopped asking for tests.

Do you think you could get in contact with a different doctor?
I would of surely thought that if your progesterone tests came back low they would do something about it!

When do you get your results from yesterdays test? Maybe if this is low too they will take you more seriously.

Hi Mrs N

If at all possible would honsetly go and speak to another doctor. They vary so much and if a day 21 blood test and your charts show you are not ovulating then they should be looking into things for you!!!

My GP is really good - but I saw a locum recently who refused to refer me to see a specialist. I am 36 and have a very short luteal phase which can be really problematic! I burst into tears which made him refer me - but I shouldn't have to do that!

I happen to work with doctors regularly and I am absolutely astounded at the differences between them! Some are fantastic - other really terrible! Don't be afraid to ask questions and push for what you need - if you don't do this things can drag on for ages.

Good luck xxx

the first lady doc I saw was very good and offered to get us referred, arrange test etc et, she was also very reassuring and understanding.
Since then I have seen two others - my original one was on holiday and only works 3 days a week so it's difficult for me to get in to see her. However, I will not be going back to discuss it again unless I can get an appointment to see her! Hoping to go week after next.
I can get my result tomorrow as I can just look it up on the pathology system at work (I'm a hospital doctor, we share the results system with the GPs - comes in handy!)

Sounds like a plan. Hopefully the lady doc will be more helpful. Good luck!
