 You may of seen my posts about Lissy screaming during feeds and HVs and Drs baffled to why, well it could all be cowinkidink but i changed how i feed her. I was told by my friend with a baby that when putting the bottle in her mouth to kinda take it away abit so your not shoving it in there, so that is what i had been doing, then someone fed alyssa the other day, all was dandy, no screaming, so i looked at how they fed her and the bottle was not shoved but quite in her mouth if that makes sense ? so i tried that today and yest and no screaming !! It could be that her lactose milk has started to work as she is fully on it, or that the past 4 months ive just been doing it wrong :cry: I feel like an awful mother if thats the reason. Does this all make sense ? Do you know what i mean ?

Your not an awful mother at all!! Crikey O Riley, how are we supposed to know!??! I Thought at hospital you got all the advice and instructions that you needed, I thought the MW's would tell me a) how to feed, b) how often c) how to bath, d) how to change nappies, e) how to wind... the list goes on.. It was a case of "right you've had your baby, off you go" I was mortified!!! I knew nothing!

Sounds more likey that its the milk change tbh, huge coincidence if its not!

Glad you've got it sorted one way or another now anyway !

I don't remember any of your other threads at the moment but I'm sure that if this was the case she would be CONSTANTLY screaming and unsatisfied. If she has been gaining weight etc, she must have been feeding ok before. If the way you fed her felt uncomfortable for her she probably would never have taken anything..

Not sure really.. we probably all feed our babies differently, and also maybe your baby was calmer on your friend because it was a different face and she was busy concentrating!

I'd say it is more likely the change in milk..

Either way, glad things are a bit better hun! x :flower:

Thanks for the reply, Im hoping it is the milk change because i sound like a right idiot if its the case that i ddnt know how to feed her. Thinking bout how i am feeding her now to how i was feeding her tho, she must of got annoyed that she had to suck hard just to get the bottle in her mouth. o good lord how did i not recognise this in the 1st place. Main thing as you said the screaming is sorted i spose.. Just feel like a right num nuts :( xx

Im hopin its just a big coincidence as she wasnt screaming at every feed. And well shes jumped a line almost when i weighed her the other day so yeh that makes sence that she must of been feeding ok. Thanks hun xx

Sorry I dont understand what you mean, I only ask because my LO is a nightmare to feed and sometimes pulls away and screams. Do you mean putting less of the teat in her mouth?

Yeh kinda, its hard to explain, like my friend told me that i shouldnt push the teat into my LOs mouth because i wouldnt know if she was finished, and to gently pull away during feeding, so i could feel LO suck. Does that make sense ? It seemed where i was, well only gently, pulling away it made LO annoyed she had to have so much effort to suck it in then get the milk. Now im well not shoving it in her mouth cause that sounds harsh but pushing it in rather than pulling away shes all dandy. Now as i said could all be cowinkidink as she now on a lactose free milk, but something tells me its prob the way ive been feeding her...? How do you feed your LO is it like the way I had been doing it, thats if this is making sense of course... :dohh: Oh and sorry for the essay reply LOL :flower:

Sorry to jump in on your question to someone else, but just thought I'd say that when my LO feeds she has the whole teat in her mouth. Her lips are practically touching the ring bit. I don't push it in, I just let her suck it in to where she wants it. When she's had enough or wants a break she pushes it out herself. If I try and take it out before she's ready it's pretty difficult! She sucks it in even harder! I just let my hand relax and she will take it where she wants it..

Hope that makes sense too!! x

(I use Avent teats if that makes a difference..)

Thanks I dont pull it away , unless I want to see if she is done when she falls asleep, she seems to pull the bottle almost all the way in so her lips are practically touching the plastic top.

Yeh... i guess i had a weird way of feeding her LOL. if your LO is screaming and pulling away have you considered wind? silent reflux? teats ? an intollerance to the milk ? or even teething ? best to speak to HV i think they may be able to help xx

Thanks, I have been thinking for ages that she dosent like formula milk, she was exclusivey BF till 3 weeks ago so it tastes different and i suppose the sucking and rate the milk comes is different too. She seemed to prefer cartons which seem a little thicker and creamier, I have swiched to SMA yesterday as is is apparantly thicker and fingers crossed she is loving it, I have also gone back down to the smaller teats which she seems to prefer, it seems to be agreeing with her so for so fingers crossed.

Its so hard, you really want to do everything perfectly right but its hard to know what is right what is wrong and more impotantly what your LO prefers for example my lo will not feed sitting upright as reccommmended she will only do it lying down (which is why I think reflux is unlikely).Peopple always say as long as she is gaining weight and weeing plenty then not to worry but we do its our job for the next............well forever now we are mummies.

Fingers crossed then the screamin has stopped. it could be the switchover, although if it does happen again, i would prob recommend speaking to HV as if your like me the screaming can sometimes get stressfull as you hate seeing them uncomfortable like that. My LO prefers to lie down too, thought she was the only one lol. Good Luck with the feeding :flower:

I think its more to do with the milk hun tbh!
As Alyssa grows up she may even push the bottle away for a second or two and then take it back. Alex does this now, its so funny seeing her try to take control!

I Know How You Feel, When I First Had Josh I Was Feeding Him Like That, And He Was Sick loads, i Changed, To Slightly Pulling Away When He Feeds, And The Sickings Calmed Down,Even Though Its A Million Times Worse Now,
