I don't know what to do! He woke up this morning moaning and his head and face felt cold. Not the first time I've noticed this. As it was 8am anyway, I brought him into bed with me where he was all snug and warm and has been asleep since. The problem is there really is only one place for his cot in our room and that's right next to the radiator. I don't leave the heating on at night as I don't want him to overheat or could I leave it on really low? I'm just not ready for him to go into his own room yet. He goes to sleep in a vest, babygrow, 2.5 tog sleeping bag and a light blanket. I was also wondering whether I could put a hat on him but I know they say that can overheat them as well. Any ideas what I can do?

Next time have a feel of his chest/stomach just to see if he really is cold. Hands and face aren't a very good indicator of their temperature, as they are often cold. It could just have been that he wanted a cuddle. Do you know what the temperature in your room is? If his tummy is cold when you feel it then I'm not sure what else to suggest as my los room has always been more than 20 and she's been warm in a long sleeved vest, sleepsuit and 2.5tog sleep bag. I def don't think you should use a hat though. Maybe some of the other ladies will have other suggestions

I'm on my phone and can't work out how to put a link, but if you type into google grobag sleeping bag advice there's a good PDF document showing what clothing you should need under a sleep bag at certain temperatures. Unless your room is less than 16c you should be fine as you are (although they say without a blanket)

Sleeping bags are great for keeping a baby warm at night. If you're concerned you could put an extra layer on. Feel your LO's chest as this is a better indicator of how warm or cold they are :) x

I haven't used them yet, but someone gave me these great fleece sleeping bags at my baby shower. Maybe look into something similar? I wouldn't use a hat.

Our room is about 17 degrees at night and his body is always lovely and warm, just his head. So I guess that's fine then. I just know I hate it when my face is cold so I assumed he would. And he always has freezing cold hands so we put socks on them to help warm them up - mittens never stay on - or he has them built into his babygrows but his hands still get cold x

My LO is the same and we keep our room pretty cool, problem is she sleeps on her belly can she still use a sleeping bag? I was thinking of a thin blanket but am afraid she'll put it on her face

Yes, you certainly can. My son is 7 months and won't sleep on his back. He hasn't since 3 months old. He uses a sleepsack every night.

oooh i was wondering this, the first time we tried LO in sleeping bag she hated it as she likes to use her legs to flip herself onto her side/tummy. do you still put him down on his back and he manages to find a cosy spot in the sleeping bag? or do you position him on his tummy when you put him down? x
