It has been a battle all the way along since we found out we are having a boy. My bf and I have almost zero common ground with names.
He insisted on Zack for a bit, and I had issues with it but I came around because I am calling dibs on the middle name. My grandfather whom was very special to me passed about a year and a half ago (his name was Elgar so not first name material in my opinion). Anyhow I had settled on Zack and we were content with that for a short while...until he changed his mind and said he didn't want the name anymore and that the more he used it the more he disliked it. I was upset but I had issues with it anyhow (relating to what I consider proper spelling k vs. h).
I am 36 weeks as you can see from my ticker and I am on his case now because not only do we not have a name, but we don't even have a list of possible names. We had briefly considered Adrian but because I have a french language background it reminds me of Adrienne and makes it somewhat feminine to me.
Today he suggested the name Reeve, and I almost dismissed it immediately, but then I combined it with Elgar and it seemed to click. I wrote it down many times with my SOs surname and I fell in love. It is the only name that has felt right.
To me it seems cool sounding, and although it is not common it has a familiar sound to it. It is a legitimate name although it has fallen out of popular usage. My SOs last name is English in origin and Reeve Elgar is also completely English.
What do you think about it?
