Should I worry? I mean, honestly it wasn't a hard impact at all. When it happened though, I felt a huge contraction, and that was it. Like my whole stomach cramped up, I found it odd, but there's been nothing since. The thing is, my head is killing me, and the back of my neck. I don't know for sure if I could possibly have gotten whiplash, or it's just from the stress of it all. So, my question is, if I do have whiplash, does that mean I could have injured my baby also? I really didn't think so until now, I felt like there was nothing to worry about!?!

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear! You really can't be to careful with accidents, and I would definitely see your doc ASAP just for peace of mind if nothing else.

Accidents of any kind can be a funny thing... I show (showed ) hunter jumpers and had a fall and thought I was ok.....but a week later I started having odd symptoms (head, neck and back) and a doctors visit revealed a concussion.

Especially in this case with being pregnant a well check can't hurt even if you do feel better in the morning. :hugs:

I think you should get yourself checked out by emergency. It may not have been hard impact, but you're pregnant and have more to worry about than just yourself. If you don't want to go to the hospital, I would call your OB/MW office first thing in the morning and see what they think. I assume they would want to see you to check the baby.

Let us know how everything goes later!! :hugs:

I agree with everyone else. You can never be too careful. My DH and son had a crash last weekend, fortunately I wasn't in the vehicle as another driver rammed the passenger side and I would have been seriously injured. They were both fine - just shook up. I would speak to your Dr tomorrow - it's probably nothing but I wouldn't take any chances. Hope you are feeling ok.

Thanx girls, but really, I probably have nothing to worry about.. right? The thing is, also, I was looking sideways over my shoulder, so my neck was in a bad pos'n on impact. I googled whiplash and apparently you coul;d get it by only going 5 mph! Right now my sides like around my love handles and my back really hurt. Funny, how almost nothing can cause stiffness! I must be getting old ;) I will for sure call my dr in the morning to see what he thinks.

No, I don't think you have anything to worry about...but still think you should get checked out being pregnant and all. ;)

Take care and speak to the doctor but baby should be fine, its swimming around in a huge pool! xxx

I had someone go into the back of me last december when I was 8 weeks pregnant. You should get it checked out at A&E. Not likely to have hurt baby, suspect any pain on your sides was from the seatbelt and if you havent already got bruising you may well get some. If you have hurt your neck or back though do get it checked immediately. You do not want aches pains or problems six months from now! I injured my neck and shoulder and it took 3 months for the pain to go. Do get it checked.

Agree with ladies above, just see GP just to make sure all is ok. However, if you are O- negative, you MIGHT need an anti-D shot just in case (I am, and was told to attend A&E if any falls, accidents, even minor...). Having had whiplash, arm injury myself, you will need loads of tlc, hot water bottles on your neck and appropriate pain-killers, unfortunately anti-inflammatories are out, such as ibruphen (sp), so be careful!

best wishes

Well today my neck is really bothering me, so maybe it was from the hit. I know, I'd love to take an ibuprophen now, I think that would really help. Tylonol is all I know is safe!

Oh, and my dr's office said I could go in if I want, depends how I feel. Since they cant even check for a hb atm since Im barely 8 weeks. Also was told to watch for spotting, cramping, all that scary stuff. She told me to call back tomorrow if I feel like I want to be checked.

Hang in there! And not to sound like a mom (nag, lol) Id still get it checked out!

I might even insist on a hb check, I was 6w6d when I first heard mine...I was bleeding so we did a check and sure enough, strong as could be.

:hugs:

Did you have a scan? My dr only has a doppler, and they usually only can detect the hb from 12'ish weeks. He would have to schedule a scan for me which could take some time.

Yes, I did have a transvaginal scan at that time. Hoping you are feeling better tonight!

Hope your feeling oK and go in if you dont feel any better xxxx

I had a rear impact accident at 8 weeks and all was fine, at that stage the baby is so far down in your pelvis its highly unlikely to have had any effect on the little one. Thing is if you are worred then you should at least phone your midwife - put your mind at rest!

I'm feeling better today, I mean my neck still hurts but I don't think it's major. I do feel like my lil bean is fine. I've had no cramps or spotting either. K, well I had some cramps, but that was from my bean bureeto ;)

Wow.....scary feeling, I'm sure! Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.......I know what you mean about not being able to take ibuprofen!!! It's the only thing I'm not allowed to take that I wish I could!!!
