So it's been over a week since my egg collection but I just had to come on here and ask some questions.
Bit of background info: my and my fella have been trying for years, we had tests and his sperm wasn't the best in terms of volume and shape. We got referred for ICSI.
After nearly a year of being on the waiting list we finally got our go.
They managed to get 9 eggs but only 6 were mature enough. They injected each one with 'perfect' sperm and the six eggs were of great quality.
But the day after they rang us to tell us the bad news that none had fertilised!
I have never been so devastated in all my life.
They said it's very rare considering both the sperm and egg were good. She also said my eggs hadn't deteriorated in the process and were still strong. But obviously because they have injected each one none could be frozen. Therefore it's back to square one and starting again.
Has this happened to you or anyone you know? I've googled but there doesn't seem many cases. Some I have read seemed positive...next time they did fertilise but I'm so worried it will happen again.
I have a follow up appointment on the 16th November with our clinic to find out what's next and when we can start again. I'm hoping it isn't more than 3 months wait.
